Role Summary: Unison Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Aviation, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electrical components, sensors, and systems for aircraft, industrial, marine, military and space. Unison's products span the globe and can be found on almost anything flying - from two place trainer airplanes to giant 747's and rockets traveling to space. We presently have an opening for a 1st shift Assembler, working from 7 AM to 3:30 pm.
Essential Responsibilities: Participate in and support team initiatives; Receive guidance from higher level employees. Cross-train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience. Compliantly complete all written and/or electronic labor tracking documentation. Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach. Keep all shift operators informed on special problems involving operation or set up Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of new processes and/or issues. May interact with internal cross-functional teams (i.e. – planning) May assist with proto-type or first time builds with guidance from higher level employees. Assists Engineering and/or Team in development and/or improvement of layout procedures and process sheets; Perform inventory counts and verification. Review expiration date of materials to ensure materials & equipment to ensure all are current. Operate high temperature ovens and furnaces; Assemble parts according to process sheet/print instructions. Perform testing as required (i.e. – dielectric, meggar, hipot, etc.) Performs electrical, mechanical, magnetic testing as required; Operates laser marker, electro-etch, & vibropene as required. Perform in-process hi-pot testing; Perform basic set up of fixtures; Perform vapor blasting as required; Solder Certified as required. Braze Certified as required; Possess certification on Electro-Static discharge as required. Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products; Good housekeeping skills. Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures; Other duties as required per department.
Qualifications/Requirements: o Education Required: High School Education and/or GED. o Experience Required: Previous manufacturing experience preferred. o Skill Level Required: o Requires use of basic hand tools and measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, rulers with training. Basic hand tools such as crimpers, soldering iron, wire strippers, brazing equipment, etc. o Proficient in use of basic computer applications. o Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation. o Understanding of basic mathematical principles; Visual Acuity Exam as required.
Desired Characteristics: Preferred assembly, solder experience and electronics manufacturing experience. Be comfortable working with multiple chemicals and/or gas compounds. Past experience in a self-directed teaming environment; Familiarity with 6S & lean manufacturing knowledge
