Role Summary: The Lead engineer will work in the area of Fan & compressor design tools. He/She will develop turbo machinery design tools under the DSI framework for components like metal blades/ composite Blades, Blisk, and vanes and application of stress analysis and optimization.
Essential Responsibilities: -Develop and support turbo machinery mechanical design tools. -Work collaboratively with development team, functional team in coming up with the project specifications (Process maps, software design, Implementation and testing/validation strategy). -Prompt response on design needs for production tool availability(e.g. Bug fixing, Training/Demo needs) -Execute the project by ensuring on-time delivery & adhering to GE internal processes -Effectively communicate with Design groups, development team members and Team manager to execute project plans (Risks, Strategy etc.) -Demonstrate in-depth technical expertise on the evaluation of structural assessment, standardization & Automation of design process and best practices using programming language, Finite Element Analysis, Optimization & Post processing -Follow and drive the rigor of documenting engineering processes and methods. -Create and drive Modular software Design which is easily extensible in future projects. -Review code with experts to ensure Best practices being followed and make suitable changes.
Qualifications/Requirements: -MTech / MS in Mechanical /Applied mechanics / Structures Engineering -5+ years of relevant experience on customizing the commercial CAD packages like UG and Ansys for the engineering applications. -Expertise in the FEA, vibration analysis and optimization methods. -Hands on experience in programming preferably using UG Advance simulation, Ansys APDL, C++ -Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desired Characteristics: -Exposure to the turbomachinary blade mechanical design -Exposure to the customization of the engineering design process. -Exposure to Project management techniques. -Six Sigma GB certification -Hands on experience in programming using Fortran, Tcl/Tk
