Role Summary: Responsible for leading GEHC in defining, developing and deploying common Cable, Cabinet, air cooling and Enclosure platforms across GEHC Imaging products. You will engage the global GEHC business units and define a strategy and roadmap that will be communicated through technology councils, WWTP, and other channels that you define.
Essential Responsibilities: Provide business wide leadership to define, develop, and deliver consolidation of cable, cabinet, air cooling and enclosure products while ensuring performance, cost, quality and
reliability metrics are integrated into requirements. Promote integration of best in class mechanical platforms into the organization at all phases of product development: create, execute and maintain. Establish a network for GEHC to engage external resources, including GRC, to deliver improvements on cable, cabinet, air cooling and enclosure technologies in GEHC products. Define the clear operating mechanisms with modality engineering teams, other Imaging platform teams, sourcing, and service to define and advance common platform roadmaps. Shape the platform framework and partner with the Global Supply chain to standardize the portfolio across GEHC business units to a minimum viable set. Collaborate with global GE and GEHC engineering counterparts to understand industry trends, share best practices, coordinate changes across product lines, and leverage platform commonality for maximum efficiency. Partner with Industrial Design to implement standard look and feel of Imaging products. Define standardized platform portfolio and deliver optimized solutions for total lifecycle support, prioritizing opportunities and collaborating with partners within Imaging, the business units, and central functions, like sourcing and service. Develop other team members, growing in their technical depth and leadership skills. Expert review of internal team, modality or external designs for performance as well as adherence to GEHC standards, industry standards, safety and regulatory requirements. Attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
Qualifications/Requirements: Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. At least 10 years of experience in one or more areas: cover design, electronic cabinet
design, forced air cooling, cable/ harness design. Understand and apply FDA / IEC and other regulatory requirements. Experience with effective design verification strategies and reliability test strategies. Experience authoring design requirements and associated verification test procedures. Experience applying design tradeoffs to optimize system performance and reliability. Proven track record leading global teams. Knowledge of Medical Products and their operational environment.
Proven expertise to troubleshoot and evaluate cables, cabinets, air coolers and enclosures. Ability to design platform products using MCAD systems and thermal analysis. Expertise in IEC60601 safety standard family and knowledge of safety standards and appropriate safety device applications.
Desired Characteristics: Preferred Qualifications: 15 or more years of Mechanical design and development experience. Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience designing to FDA Medical Device regulations (21CFR Parts 820, 814) Design experience with GEHC products, design tools, and quality processes. Demonstrated track record of global team leadership. Proven skill in mentoring others. Experience with Supply Chain processes and external vendors. Demonstrated track record for the successful execution of complex system level tasks. Able to work with limited or ambiguous information and develop solutions. Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time (both Domestic and International). Expertise in PTC Creo parametric (minimum 1000 hours). Expertise in the PTC Creo Parametric cable/harness package. Excellent communication and technical leadership skills. Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills. Exceptional organizational and problem solving skills.
