Role Summary: This role represents GE in a Digital Energy Monitoring and Diagnostic (M&D) Joint Venture with State Grid Wuhan Nari, Wuhan, China. The person in this role will bridge GE & JV technical resources with market demand, design and develop products that meet market demand, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term technical planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Essential Responsibilities: Demonstrate accountability for functional, business and broad company objectives Provide recommendations for technical licensing or partnerships where necessary to meet the business and technology strategy Engage in industry events to be ahead of standards, trends and needs and link back to an integrated technology strategy Promote use of technical development and cost-out programs to drive technical leadership and competitive position Be responsible for oversight of direct and indirect costs, including technology R&D percent of sales Ensure technical compliance of product and manufacturing methods to Chinese and international technical standards Ensure appropriate resourcing and execution on New Product Introductions (NPIs), if required Design and develop products that meet needs of overseas market, if required Establish global technical strategic direction and promote a development environment of growth focused on customer satisfaction and technical excellence Proactively interact with international teams to gather and understand technology trends and product needs within the region Develop key talent within the technology organization through mentoring, coaching and facilitation of development opportunities Establish and leverage strategic relationships with premier universities Seek opportunities for government aid for research
Qualifications/Requirements: Minimum 10 years of working experience with at least 5 years in M&D industry management role, preferably in technology function Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering discipline from an accredited university Ability to build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders & working with various levels of people Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and verbal English and Mandarin Interface effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization Understanding customer needs, market place dynamics, industry trends, & the competitive landscape, and considering the external impact of both business activities and decisions on the external environment A clear thinker, able to simplifying strategy into specific actions with clear accountability, making decisions with speed & accuracy based on best available information & communicating priorities clearly & concisely, and able to deliver results in an ambiguous environment Ability to drive multiple projects to completion High energy level, mature, independent, and great adaptability Working experiences in state-owned companies in China is desired Experience working with global teams/organizations would also be beneficial Six Sigma training and/or experience in technology transfer projects are preferable
