Role Summary:
In this role, you will work with Internet of Things (IoT) and industrial control systems technologies connecting GE’s field equipment’s/software to the cloud. The role focuses on the IoT at the edge (including the devices). The engineer will work extensively with new technologies and systems to interconnect GE’s/Non GE’s equipment with the respective cloud services.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Software Engineer provides direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

· Software development and maintenance of components, systems and their networks
· Analyze user needs to design and code
· Program (C++) all applications, components and interfaces
· Work closely with the business unit to ensure application development meets product specification requirements
· Work closely with other engineering teams, partners and vendors to ensure inter-operability and reuse
· Design, implement and test software, ensuring quality specifications are met.
· Participate actively in design and code reviews
· Drive performance and reliability enhancements
· Close interaction with customers to drive requirements and customer satisfaction

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
• A minimum of 5+ years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across product lines

Desired Characteristics:
Technical Expertise:
• Strong hands-on design, coding and debugging skills and close familiarity with DevOps techniques, performance testing and management, and data storage and processing
• Experience working Open Stack cloud deployment
• Experience on connecting devices to cloud
• Experience and hands on C++ and OO programming
• Exposure using and designing APIs using REST, XML, and JSON
• Exposure to Software and Tools: Cygwin, Linux Shell Scripting, IXIA, Iperf, Wire shark, XMLSpy, SQL Server, XML
• Network protocol understanding (Layer 3-4: IP/TCP/UDP/ICMP, Layer 7: HTTP, DNS)
• Familiarity with Industrial protocols like Modbus, EGD, OPC and other IOT protocols etc.
• Familiarity with Linux preferably embedded Linux
• Exposure to Predix is a plus

• Work with Principle and Consulting engineers to align projects with business goals and needs.

• Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout their domain. Define the skills, competencies in the skills and talents for architecture team members.
• Facilitates dialogues that produce new perspectives and trigger recommendations for substantial innovative / enhancements, and analysis of consequences.
