Role Summary:
In the role of Lead Software Engineer, you will:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-level system specifications and documentation; perform system level software design and system integration for sensor systems
  • Ensure software system designs have appropriate analytical capability, empirical design/testing, and production level verification
  • Develop PC based tools/applications for interaction with embedded systems
  • Participate in developing qualification/test programs for the designed product and ability to set-up and execute prescribed tests
  • Design customer interfaces, GUI’s, API, etc. for products and production testing apparatus
  • Work with team members to ensure successful execution of the new product development cycle

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in product development

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Advanced technical degrees (MSEE, MSCS)
  • Ability to analyze systems, circuit boards (schematics, analog and digital circuitry), and design specifications to generate detailed test requirements
  • Familiarity with Excel and SQL Server
  • Develop real time embedded software (Linux, Windows CE)
  • Experience with device driver development
  • Use of NI Measurement Studio from within Visual Studio .NET
  • Knowledge of and experience writing code for commercial communication methods such as WiFi, Ethernet, USB, smart phone apps, Bluetooth, etc.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean Quality Techniques (Green Belt Certification Preferred, GE Employees only)
  • Work experience in an ISO 9000 environment
  • Familiarity with SAP business system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all organizational levels
  • Must be results oriented self-starter with track record of delivering results
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with internal and external customers (products, troubleshooting, customer requirements)
  • Experience writing embedded real time applications
  • Experience writing multi-threaded data acquisition PC Windows applications using Visual Studio.NET, both for engineering qualification and production testing
  • Ability to take third party device documentation and implement interface
  • Strong documentation skills in writing Software development plans, Software requirements documents, performance and test plans and user manuals
