Role Summary:
GE Power is seeking a Data Center Simplification Project Manager to assist in relocating GE Power data center/data rooms to GE Corporate Strategic Data Centers. Candidate must have expertise managing migration, consolidation and optimization projects. Qualified individuals must have exceptional project management acumen as well as written, verbal and presentation skills.

Essential Responsibilities:

This is a highly visible role that will have constant interaction with all GE Power leadership teams. In this role, you will:

  • Drive data center simplification and migration projects, managing internal and vendor project teams throughout the entire project life cycle (technology and application migration discovery, design and execution)
  • Build and develop the execution plan for the consolidation and migration of applications, servers, storage and network
  • Prepare all project documentation including project charter & scope, progress reports, project budget, change control documentation, and other documents as needed
  • Manage technical infrastructure teams and application teams to plan and execute migration cutover events
  • Manage the day to day individual migration plans and wave event planning
  • Regularly review and analyze the project risk with leadership and develop and execute mitigation tasks as needed
  • Provide regular updates to migration run books and documentation
  • Utilize rigorous scope change control process to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery
  • Prepare presentations and conduct weekly team meetings providing updates and status reports as requested



Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or comparable demonstrated experience
  • Minimum of five years’ project experience (build, consolidation, relocation, migration or virtualization projects

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required



Desired Characteristics:

  • General understanding of compute and data center functions (production operations, network, change control, DR/business recovery, help desk, systems management and facilities) with a focus on server, storage and database technologies
  • Knowledge of *NX and Windows operating systems
  • Understanding of Storage technologies including SAN,NAS and Cloud storage
  • Ability to leverage data for analytics and charts
  • Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
  • Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
  • Skilled in negotiation to align stakeholders and communicate a single synthesized perspective to the scrum team
  • Balances value propositions for competing stakeholders
  • Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions
  • Influences through others; builds direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas
  • Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
  • Shares knowledge, power, and credit, establishing trust, credibility, and goodwill
  • Able to work under minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
  • Able to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility
  • Skilled in providing oversight and mentoring team members
  • Shows ability to effectively delegate work
