Role Summary:
GE Digital is looking for an experienced, full-stack Sr Software Engineer to work on the Predix Application Development team, building next generation web applications that work on-premises and in the cloud.

Essential Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for reviewing requirements, own the development of a feature or a small feature set, create automated tests, work on continuous integration and work as a part of a scrum team. You will contribute to the team and work independently, collaborating with the senior members as necessary.

In this role you will:
  • Collaborate with technical product managers and system engineers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions
  • Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
  • Lead technical discussions and create design artifacts, keeping in view the maintainability and sustainability of the software
  • Coach and mentor engineers on the team.
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
  • Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
  • Focus on building the front end, the UI layer of applications and the REST API definitions
  • Collaborate with the UX team in defining a consistent user experience across a suite of products. Interpret feedback from usability studies.
  • Keep abreast of advances in UI development.
  • Understand performance parameters and assess application performance


Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience delivering commercial software, both, on-premises or hosted in the cloud

Eligibility Requirements
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Boston, MA
  • Must be willing to travel (up to 10% of the time)


Desired Characteristics:
Technical Expertise:
  • Experience delivering web applications using Java/REST APIs and Javascript on the client.
  • Expertise in front-end technologies such as, HTML5, CSS, SaSS and BootStrap
  • In-depth understanding AngularJS, Polymer and React JS.
  • Build responsive web applications, mobile experience desirable
  • Experience with source code control and build and continuous integration specifically, GIT/SVN, Maven/Bamboo, Grunt, NPM and Bower.
  • Prior experience with test frameworks for the front end such as Mocha, Jasmine.
  • Experience with both, Linux and Windows is required.

  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
  • Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends
  • Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
