Role Summary: GE Digital is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to work on a number of exciting projects that will have a very positive impact on GE’s business.
Essential Responsibilities: You will be responsible for developing high-performing, scalable and innovative applications. You will work independently to contribute to the team and work with direction from senior team members and management.
In this role you will:
Add new features to and extend existing shared platforms and solutions.
Collaborate with engineers across all parts of the software stack to implement solutions that are aligned with business objectives
Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, secure development, scalability, refactoring and test automation techniques
Write code that meets quality standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them in across the programming languages used in the projects
Participate actively in code reviews, accepting and providing feedback graciously.
Continue adding to your technical skills through formal and informal continuing education.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), or equivalent non-traditional education.
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in software development.
Understanding of the basics of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
Development skills in client-side technologies: .NET, C#, Mono/Gtk#, SQLite
Experience in designing client applications on both Windows and Mac OS X is a must
Experience in packaging and deploying native client apps using IDEs: VisualStudio, Xamarin, MonoDevelop etc.
Excellent track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and / or industry activities
Good understanding of the technology stack to include OS, DB, middleware and application layer
Have a solid understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application
Has the ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks
Has the ability to make basic technology choices based on experience
Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry
Has the ability to take ownership of small tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary
Voices opinions and presents clear rationale. Uses data or factual evidence to influence
