Role Summary: The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be part of a team developing world class locomotive designs & applications. You will be responsible for ensuring the product quality for the end to end system through the development cycle process. Will be involved in validating system level integration of multiple products and stand-alone product testing. This role provides leadership for process improvements, governance throughout the process, measurement system enhancements, tracking & audits.
Essential Responsibilities: The software Quality Assurance leader demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization.
Lead operating rhythm to improve software First Pass Yield (FPY)
Act as a gatekeeper for the software releases
Responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of process effectiveness and efficiency
Help define consistent interfaces within the controls & SW team as well as teams externally like systems, Project mgmt., program mgmt., integrate processes with current business processes to drive consistence
Develop and maintain metrics/measurement system for continuous improvement
Supports continuous product and process improvement through detailed failure analysis for non-conformances, and investigates, develops and implements effective and compliant solutions for product or process corrections, retrospective and remediation action plans, and for corrective and preventive actions (CAPA Program)
Leads, develops, communicates & implements a strategy to ensure compliance with procedures
Ensures process compliance through the development of comprehensive procedures, work instructions, flowcharts, forms, templates, checklists, worksheets, training and other product and process related documentation
Ensuring quality process and regulatory compliance in the spirit of accordance with documented procedures for all aspects of functional responsibility
To observe (audit) that documented standards, processes, and procedures are followed
Providing feedback to project staff and managers on the results of quality assurance activities. Ensuring that noncompliance issues are addressed
Utilizes risk management tools and aids for use by the organization in accordance with documented procedures, including but not limited to PFMEA, DFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Mode Analysis, etc. Develops process mitigation plans and strategies that are designed to mitigate the risks identified through the Risk Management process.
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer science , Engineering or a related subject with 12+ years of experience
Proven working experience in Software design, development and testing on various platform
Control specifications and modeling techniques experience of 2 years
Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
Proven working experience in software/controls development of software V&V
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum as well as waterfall development process
Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
Awareness and Knowledge of industry best practices in software development processes
Strong team player
Strong analytical and process skills
High personal energy and self-accountability
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Able to lead by influence while working in a matrix environment
Familiar with ISO requirements and lead auditor certified
