Role Summary: The Lead Services Rotating Parts Engineer will work as a design engineer to lead new product development for services productivity and our transactional business along with sourcing support activities. This person shall demonstrate technical accountability for the bearings across the turbine installed base of turbine platforms and the Services NPI platform.
Essential Responsibilities: - Development of services productivities programs that optimize turbine maintenance for the Pitch Bearing, Main Bearing, Yaw bearing etc. • Design / analysis documentation, e.g. Specifications, Design Practices, BoM, Work Desk Instructions (WDI), etc. • Supporting site failure analysis and correction, supplier qualification/deviation disposition and GE manufacturing on all technical issues related to the turbine’s structural components • Perform design/analysis of bearings including sub-systems and develop detailed documentation • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements. • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments. • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues. • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews. • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Qualifications/Requirements: - Masters in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university • At least 3 years of experience in an engineering position • Design experience on bearings Eligibility Requirements: -Ability and availability to travel up to 10% -Ability to climb wind turbine towers of 300 ft or more
Desired Characteristics: - At least 2 years of experience in a Wind engineering position • Experience in design & analysis of bearings. • Working knowledge of 3D-CAD tools like UG • Strong understanding of product definition drawings, GD&T, materials, process specifications and Bills of Material • Strong oral and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • Ability to work in a matrix team environment
