Role Summary: The Analytics Engineer - Performance Engineering will work with teams addressing statistical, machine learning and data mining problems in an applied environment. In this role, you will support the deployment of power generation domain knowledge & data sciences for finding structure in data to identify customer insights & software solutions application opportunities.
Essential Responsibilities: As a Engineer - Performance Engineering, you will contribute to cross-disciplinary teams. Typically involving large data sets, these teams will involve turbine & plant design engineers, computer scientists, statisticians, and work in conjunction to define solutions. Application includes overall economic optimization of power generation equipment owned and operated by our customers through such areas as remote monitoring and diagnostics, operations optimization, production cost reduction, and maintenance savings.
Define and develop plant & fleet intelligence through monitored assets and software solutions data that provides customer value and sales/discovery support through power generation domain expertise coupled with data sciences & analytics
Work across cross-functional technical teams to develop insights and operational recommendations for power generation equipment
Assist in determining technical approaches to be used on monitoring, classification and operations optimization of thermal power plants
Ensure proper definition of data needs, evaluation of data quality, and critique appropriate statistical analyses; for critical projects, perform needed analysis
Effectively communicate technical analysis and results to business management
Partner across Power Services Engineering teams that are currently performing related activities to leverage current data, tools & methods, and to ensure common practices and interpretation of data
Bachelor’s Degree in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited university or college
Must be willing to travel up to 15%
Previous experience with data sciences in application and development of analytics
Analytics development & programming with Python & R languages, AI and Neural networks methods
Knowledge of data-driven optimization algorithms
Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
