Role Summary: EHS leader will be responsible for EHS performance across Japan/Korea, people development and business integration activities. . It will drive operational leadership and coaching across all businesses and master regional customer requirements, third-party certification req., & GE’s internal EHS programs.
Essential Responsibilities: Delivers in-depth knowledge of EHS risks presented by all of GE’s regional operations; Delivers in-depth knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements where GE operates within the region; Ensures environmental compliance and drives reduction of environmental risk through mastery of water and air treatment systems, waste management techniques, process safety, and emergency response; Provides operational assistance after any major EHS events in the region including incident investigation and corrective action implementation; Leads, coaches, mentors operations within a set of assigned countries, across all businesses; Leverage shared-service functional team that provides regional EHS support; Works with EHS training team to ensure appropriate technical and regulatory competency for EHS professionals and other operational employees; Maintains relationships with regional EHS regulatory bodies; Represents GE in regional external forums; Coordinates regional best practice sharing.
Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in an EHS-related discipline or with extended studies in an EHS-related discipline, from an accredited college or university; 8+ years overseeing the execution of EHS programs; Ability to travel 35% of the time
Desired Characteristics: Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline; Extensive experience with one or more GE businesses within the region. Relationships across GE subsidiaries and businesses; Extensive experience with regional EHS regulatory obligations. Strong ability to mentor and coach a new & diverse team; Strong understanding of legal requirements associated with EHS issues; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to manage/coordinate broad spectrum of initiatives simultaneously; Excellent interpersonal skills.
