Role Summary:
The Sr Data Engineer will be responsible for the technical implementation of reporting & analytic solutions for internal customer needs related to Business Intelligence for ERP, BMS, Supply Chain and Brilliant Factory Initiatives across Gas Power Systems factories. The candidate will partner closely with various functional and IT personnel.

Essential Responsibilities:
As the Sr Data Engineer, you will:

  • Architect, design, and develop data reporting structures in the enterprise data lake
  • Support the reporting requirements from business customers across all the GPS Brilliant Factories, ERP, BMS, and Supply Chain initiatives
  • Orchestrate the analysis, requirements, development, and design of business intelligence solutions to enable data driven decision making for internal customers
  • Lead report development planning and execution, including team meetings, team communication, task assignment / optimization, and escalation of resource gaps
  • Align solution designs with overall architectures and strategic technologies
  • Help define team development best practices and process improvements
  • Work with cross-functional groups to coordinate design, development, and deployment activities



Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as data engineer
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using Hadoop ecosystem, Map-Reduce, Spark, NoSQL (HBase, MongoDB etc.), Cassandra
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using Scripting (Pig, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Core Java, Java WebServices development SOAP, REST APIs
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working on Database(s), SQL


Desired Characteristics:
  • Multiple years of working experience with Talend ETL
  • Multiple years of experience working with relational and non-relational databases particularly Postgres / SQL
  • Multiple years of experience building visualization intensive workbooks with Tableau
  • Multiple years of experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, & Web Services
  • Detailed understanding of data management standards, data governance practices and data quality
  • Experience with Predix Platform
  • Knowledge of data transfer and ingestion technologies including HVR
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries needed to query & analyze data
  • Ability to communicate complex solution concepts in simple terms
  • Ability to provide multiple solutions to business problems
  • Strong technical aptitude, quickly learns and adapts capabilities to new and emerging technologies
  • Strong Oral and written communication skills
