Role Summary: Performs advanced project engineering assignments including software, hardware, and/or systems integration, and custom software development in support of a customer. This is a project engineering role with strong customer focus.
Deliver Oil & Gas (e-terrapipeline) systems, integrating software applications for customers.
Performs assigned system integration and testing tasks.
Performs advanced custom software development tasks.
Leads basic design of subsystems and integration of total system.
Completes advanced tasks in diagnosing and fixing systems and applications problems.
Completes project and system documentation and internal testing. Responsible for documentation on all tasks and development work assigned.
Provides input to technical lead on schedules and cost estimates.
Interfaces with customer on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise.
Conducts technical review of application designs and working with the application areas to ensure that project requirements are met.
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience.
5+ year experience with the use and configuration of Windows servers and workstations in a high availability networked system.
Software systems development and integration skills in a team setting.
Understanding of highly complex hardware and software configurations in a real-time environment.
Good scripting and database skills.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Additional experience with Linux administration is a plus.
Experience with installation and configuration of eterra products ETH (eterraHabitat), ETB (eterraBrowser) and APF (Advanced Presentation Framework) is strongly desired.
Experience with Windows Server 2010 Active Directory, IIS and group policy management.
Aware of Methods and practices such as Lean/Agile/XP, etc. May have prior work experience in an agile environment, or introductory training on Lean/Agile. Aware of and able to apply continuous integration (CI).
Operates with general understanding of the impacts of technology choice to the software development life cycle.
Knowledge of SCRUM, JIRA, Confluence, and version control software is desirable.
Familiar with programming languages such as C and C++, as well as scripting using Perl and Windows DOS/Powershell.
Ability to travel (via car or airline) to US or international locations on occasion.
