Role Summary: The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer - Renewables - Electrical will work closely with Renewable Energy Design Engineering, Product Service Engineering, SQE team, Commodity Leaders, Buyers, Project Management and Installation team, Supplier Performance Leaders and GE Renewable Energy Global Supplier Quality team on all activity required to effectively support supplier quality requirements for assigned wind turbine electrical components and suppliers.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Lead Supplier Quality Engineer - Renewables - Electrical, you will:
Develop and lead First Piece Qualification plans, process / product verification efforts, quality system audits and supplier surveillance program
Lead process improvement efforts using GE Renewable Energy Quality systems, e-tools and procedures to drive process quality improvements and leverage statistical tools for evaluation of process capability on critical-to-quality (CTQ) part / component characteristics
Participate in supplier design / engineering review and approval process and internal NPI (New Product Introduction) process
Assure quality through approval of Manufacturing Process Plan (MPP), Product and Process Quality Plan (PQP), product quality reviews, verification of quality documentation, monitoring of compliance and qualification completions / closures
Address Cost of Quality (COQ) reduction based on customer, assembly shop and site feedback and incorporate key customer critical-to-quality parameters in supplier processes
Ensure quality consistency and reduce variance in processes through First Piece Qualification, pilot lot approvals (when required) and with ongoing serial production
Coordinate initiation and resolution of Supplier Deviation Requests (SDR’s), material substitutions and quality control reviews on non-conformances at supplier facility and/or wind farm sites
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), FMEA (Failure Mode & Effect Analysis) for process improvement, and preventive / corrective action as required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering OR in another technical discipline combined with professional experience in electrical engineering
Proven project management OR supplier quality experience (customer or supplier facing)
Fluency in English
Ability and willingness to travel 40% as required
Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Experience working with Electrical Components with Electrical Standards like IEC, IPC
Quality training and/or related work experience (ISO 9001)
Related Wind sourcing and/or manufacturing experience
Lean Six Sigma trained and certified or equivalent quality training and certification
Demonstrated technical aptitude and a passion for quality
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work in a cross-functional and global team environment
