Role Summary: As an intern at the GE Center for Additive Technology Advancement team (CATA), you will work closely with the additive manufacturing team. This team supports all GE Industrial businesses. You will provide assistance to work groups in order to meet assigned objectives & you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, & resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Assist in setting up new equipment as additive machines are received and installed in the new facility.
Act as a lead on specific tasks that require a broad experience base
Execute the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements
Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
Document and communicate results of technical data generated
Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Interface with external organizations and supporting functions, and assist in coordinating the efforts of project team members in order to accomplish overall goals Assist the management team with planning work activity.
Qualifications/Requirements: Pursuing a BS or MS at an ABET accredited engineering program in Chemical, Industrial, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering. Experience with additive manufacturing
Familiar with software packages MAGICS, Netfabb, Solid Works, NX or other similar design and build prep software
Independent thinker and worker who can operate with little direction, but is still comfortable working in a collaborative environment
