Role Summary: The Program Manager is responsible for the development and execution of an extensive Economic Development plan for the GE Power business in South Africa. The role guides a cross-functional team via their understanding of the South African legislative and economic landscape as well as the Energy sector. The Manager interfaces with the Supply Chain and Commercial organizations, Learning and Development, CSI and External Partners to consolidate the elements of the program for implementation.
Essential Responsibilities: • Engage the Business Units Commercial and Supply Chain teams to identify areas of potential in terms of localization of supply. • Creates and executes program work plans for development of an Economic Development proposal which can be reviewed internally and externally. • Lead a project team comprising business and regional resources in supply chain, learning and development, corporate social investment and business development as well as other relevant resources. • Identify and interrogate customer requirements, national and provincial priorities, environmental realities and existing resources to drive executable strategies that align local needs with company capabilities. • Seek ways to accelerate the program development schedule to ensure milestones and deadlines are achieved • Accountable for day-to-day execution of the program in South Africa • Monitoring, evaluation and internal reporting for ongoing projects as well as the implementation of remedial actions as required • Assists in the development of appropriate program documents and ensures that they are complete, current and stored appropriately. • Develops a thorough understanding of our GE capabilities. • Identifying opportunities for internal and external collaboration • Promote GE values and integrity
Qualifications/Requirements: • Technical College / University Degree (Business or Technical preferred) • Strong project management skills • 10+ years of commercial/projects experience • Demonstrated decision making capability and autonomy • Strong communication/energizing skills • High energy team player with multi-cultural skills, able to influence effectively in a decentralized, global environment. • Experience in Localization programs, Supplier identification, assessment and development would be advantageous • Understanding of relevant legislation (BBBEE, NDP and local content) • Solid written and verbal communication skills. • Fluency in English • High level of Integrity.
