Role Summary: As a Project Engineer within the Downstream Technology Solutions of GE Oil & Gas, you will be responsible for the successful execution of projects and/or programs related to design of control valves.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of NPI Project Engineer you will:
Work with Project Management to clearly establish & communicate business goals & customer requirements
Execute with guidance from senior engineering resources, the design, test, analysis, & integration of components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements
Develop valve / actuator designs
Use design tools 3D CAD (SolidWorks), PLM and in-house design calculations
Assess and proactively manage technical risks
Identify areas for continuous improvement through project lessons learned
Ensure design reviews with Controlled Title Engineers and Chief Engineers as appropriate
Author or co-author updates to design practices as required
Stay current with academic & industry technology trends, conference proceedings, etc
Drive continuous improvement and simplification projects that eliminate waste and increase speed
Communicate progress to senior leadership, customers and stakeholders
Assign contracts to designer and regulate workload leveling for the drawing fulfillment
Coordinate drawing checking methods and monitor designer checking schedules
Interface with PE or Program Manager, Testing, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing and component vendors
Coordinate and control the activities performed by external resources related to the assigned job
Ensure expected results in term of quality, execution time, and cost (within control)
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum 3 years of experience leading technical projects comprised of multi-disciplined engineering teams
Prior experience in the Oil & Gas Industry technologies considered a plus
High energy level and a self-starter with positive attitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and influence others without alienation
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Business and financial acumen
Able to work well under pressure
