Role Summary: Responsible for providing senior level syndication, placement advisory and trade execution capabilities to a newly re-launched non- bank, mainland Chinese leasing and factoring company sitting within the Industrial Finance business unit.
Essential Responsibilities: The individual will work closely both with the Industrial Finance commercial origination teams as well as the GE industrial units in mainland China and GE Industrial Finance and Capital Markets colleagues globally. Management and development of deep investor relationships (including partner banks) across a diverse range of financial markets whilst maintaining broad product knowledge, with a focus on equipment finance for GE product and the sales and syndication of GE industrial receivables. Disseminating comprehensive market intelligence to the business unit and other capital markets colleagues. • Manage syndication/sales processes of transactions originated by the business unit. • Determine market depth for individual transactions through the analysis of relevant market comparables, investor appetite, and market conditions. • Ensure deals priced and structured to market to optimize GE returns using risk transfer tools including syndication and structured finance techniques. • Interface with internal and external clients with respect to all underwriting issues related to the distribution of transactions, including credit analysis, due diligence, negotiation of documentation, legal and tax structures. • Assist in construction and agreement of strategy, pricing and timetable of syndication with internal and external clients. • Assist in the production of investor information packages and the management of investor meetings. • Managing investor coverage during distribution process, coordinating and answering investor questions. • Management of allocation, signing and fee distribution to investors, including if applicable, coordination with Operations/Closing team (where GE underwriting is in scope). • Manage secondary trade execution requirements of the business unit including portfolio sales in whole asset or tranched format. • Develop and maintain comprehensive market contacts and investor relationships in the Chinese market for WCS receivables and/or equipment financings supporting the sale of GE product. • Contribute to the analyses of credit & market risks and the competitive financing landscape for the business unit and industrial counterparts in China and share information with local and global teams to increase the business’ market knowledge base. • Support the business’ financial and strategic goals by applying a broad range of capital market products and structures, including alternative market applications for GE businesses, including securitisation, credit default swaps, interest rate and fx products, etc. • Actively participate in sales/origination team pitches to customers for (strategic transactions) and contribute to winning new business using capital markets solutions for GE industrial customers. • Oversee internal reporting and ensuring investor, trade and deal tracking systems are maintained. • Comply with the requirements of governance, risk management, corporate and regulatory standards • Coach and mentor junior members of the team to the extent applicable (either within the region and/or in London or Paris)
Qualifications/Requirements: • • Demonstrated capability in the Chinese marketplace to manage syndication processes and entering into trading relationships with market counterparts • Extensive Chinese investor relationships/contacts (both local and international) • Strong knowledge of capital markets products and capabilities • Deep expertise and demonstrated skills in syndicating and trading debt transactions • Ability to multi-task across asset classes (e.g. Equipment finance and trade receivables) and liability structures (e.g. single asset syndication, portfolio trades and/or securitisations) • Good strategic thinker – ability to predict market developments and contribute to the strategic development of the Capital Markets business • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to build consensus in a matrixed environment; ability to deliver “tough” messages tactfully; ability to build trusting working relationships while maintaining independence; strong industry knowledge and contacts coupled with knowledge of capital markets controllership, accounting, tax / legal issues • Strong verbal and written communications skills including ability to edit offering materials for investors as well as leading customer and investor meetings
Desired Characteristics: • MBA and/or BSc/BA or equivalent • Bilingual Mandarin/English • Knowledge of equipment preferred but not at the cost of structured finance capital markets expertise. • Basic understanding or economic and bank regulatory capital concepts and accounting issues relating to structured finance.
