Role Summary: In this strategic technical pre-sales position, the Sales Application Engineer will establish a trusted advisor relationship with both our external customers and internal technical teams. In this role, you will collaborate with internal GE Power and corporate development teams, product management teams and commercial sales teams to help drive sales. You will provide technical support to our sales and business development activities.
Essential Responsibilities: • Establish a deep understanding of our customers business and technical needs • Create a “trusted technical advisor” relationship with our customer’s technologists and internal technical teammates • Be part of a sales team that meets and exceeds monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals • Identify and remove technical obstacles that could prevent a sale • Deliver solution demonstrations that focus on the customers’ desired outcomes • Have the ability to be customer facing and drive deep technical whiteboard sessions aligning our current capabilities plus our product roadmaps with our customer’s business outcomes • Provide deep technical feedback to our product management teams to ensure proper solution design • Shape, drive and be held accountable for delivering significant strategic initiatives with key stakeholders (customers and GE teammates)
Qualifications/Requirements: • Master’s / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering • Minimum 10 years of experience in coal plant technology, including but not limited to plant commissioning, O&M, project management etc. • Experience in working with engineering consultancy firms /OEMs/ engineering service providers/performance monitoring teams • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Desired Characteristics: • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in thermal engineering/ energy / power / heat power • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. • Candidate should have experience that would demonstrate technical knowledge and understanding of coal plant technology • Experience in a cross-functional environment • Experience working with customers - Basic knowledge of industrial management and industrial administration (commercial aspects of projects) including pro-forma calculations (Net Present Value, NPV) • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (GE employees only)
