Role Summary: Join a dynamic and highly motivated product development team focused on developing GE Automation & Controls leading edge industrial computer platforms. In this position, you will be responsible for architecture, implementation and maintenance of FPGA solutions and firmware for embedded computer products.
Development of HW related firmware like FPGA, PLD, and micro-controller code for embedded computer platforms, mainly based on x86 architecture
Validation of FPGA code using offline simulation and in-situ validation tools
Work with platform and program teams to optimize designs for customer satisfaction, cost effectiveness, and re-usability
Devise and execute cross-functional (VHDL, HW, SW, Mechanical) experiments to alleviate high risk portions of designs, thereby enabling programs to launch on time
Close co-operation with other engineering teams globally during product development
Document products and technical data generated consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Participate actively in technical and program reviews
Investigate and evaluate new technologies
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar (Bachelor of Science/FH Degree, Master/University Degree)
Demonstrated experience in FPGA-synthesis, static timing analysis and simulation
Proficient in VHDL or Verilog hierarchical development including test benches
Experience with state of the art development and simulation tools
Working knowledge of FPGAs and toolchains from vendors like Altera, Lattice, Xilinx, etc.
Proficiency in board-level, high-speed microprocessor platforms
Interest and capability of hardware related programming
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Effective problem identification and solution skills. Proven analytical and organizational ability.
Self-motivated and results-oriented
Team player with professional/positive personal presence
Good self-management skills
Experience with Mentor Graphics design tools
Proficiency in design of high reliability systems
Experience in interfacing with customers and field engineers
