Role Summary:
The Data Engineer will be responsible to migrate databases from On-premise environment to Azure, AWS Cloud. Will work closely with Application teams and database team to facilitate the move to Cloud environment. Responsible to establish platform standards, best practices, and implementation.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • In Depth knowledge of Azure (IAAS, PAAS) cloud architecture, Backups, AWS Cloud Architecture, S3 Backup, AWS RDS setup. Migration of Databases from On-Premises to Azure SQL, Azure IAAS, AWS Cloud EC2, RDS, Backup of Databases using S3.
  • Experience with migration of databases from On-Premises to AWS Cloud EC2, RDS.
  • Experience with database backup to AWS S3 and Glacier
  • Analyze, evaluate, and architect new third party applications in SQL Server.
  • Ensure databases are available 24x7x365 days performing optimally through different monitoring tools, alerts, automation, working with Application and other technology teams,
  • Plan, execute to stay current on SQL Server technology, service packs.
  • Collaborate with other infrastructure teams to establish platform standards, best practices, and implement.
  • Increase efficiencies through automation and operational excellence.
  • Monitor the database environment for increased efficiency, improved reliability, and lower operating cost.
  • Collaborate with other technology teams, application teams to address critical incidents with stipulated SLA.
  • Be part in the design, implementation and testing of enterprise wide backup/recovery and disaster recovery.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in SQLServer database administration experience including implementations, upgrades, and performance tuning
  • Minimum 2 years with migration of databases from On-Premises to AWS Cloud EC2, RDS.
  • Minimum 2+ years with problem analysis/resolution for O/S, database, and middle tier technologies.
  • Minimum 3 years experience supporting high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Minimum 3+ years of project management experience.

    Desired Characteristics:

  • In Depth knowledge of Azure (IAAS, PAAS), AWS Cloud Architecture, S3 Backup, AWS RDS setup, EC2 Setup, deployment of SQLServer Databases, support, monitoring, migration on cloud.
  • Experience with migration of databases from On-Premises to AWS Cloud EC2, RDS.
  • Experience with database backup to AWS S3 and Glacier
  • Design, setup, Configure, maintain SQLServer 2012, 2014 Always On running on Windows MultiSite Cluster.
  • Installation, configuration of various SQLServer editions, on stand alone, cluster, Always On using automated scripts.
  • Experience implementing, supporting SQLServer monitoring tool SCOM.
  • Experience with SQLServer Database upgrade.
  • Strong track record of understanding and learning about current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities.
  • Proven ability to recognize and execute process improvements.
  • Minimum 3+ years of project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, cross-team training, and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to support 24/7/365 applications including on call rotations.
  • bachelor's degree in Computer Science related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong team player collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources.
  • Change oriented actively generates process improvements; supports and drives change, and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve.
