Role Summary:
This is an exciting position that requires a strong eye for design. Our apps feature in-depth data visualizations that enable customers to view, question, analyze, and interpret data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. We are seeking an experienced professional that will create high-impact visualizations in support of analytical and decision support projects, leveraging relevant technology and visualization techniques to make information accessible and intuitive.

Essential Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
  • Enhance applications through the design and development of compelling data visualizations
  • Leverage expertise in data visualization design to provide intuitive and meaningful solutions that can scale and can be incorporated in a responsive web framework
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field and recommend plans for growth through the adoption of new methodologies and development, and promulgation of data visualization standards
  • Partner with UX staff, technical staff, Engineering and clients to develop solutions
  • Work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects with multi-disciplinary teams

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction, Graphic, or Industrial Design preferred or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in designing visualizations including, but not limited to, the use of colors and graphs.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Houston TX, Longmont CO, or San Ramon, CA

  • Effective problem-solving and issue resolution capabilities
  • Ability to work through complex design solutions with ability to understand “how it works behind the scenes”
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects / multi-task
  • Strong inter-personal skills and excellent communication skills are required
  • Operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing visualizations representing complex information that can be actioned on in an impactful way
  • Demonstrated expertise in data visualization techniques including, but not limited to, the use of colors, graphs and maps (GIS)
  • Experience with using multiple visualization software, platforms, and processes
  • Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to work with a UX team, Engineers, development, leadership and clients
  • Ability to share portfolio

    Technical Expertise:
  • No-fear around new technology, equipment and navigating the internal systems of a very large company
  • Experience with Tableau, Microsoft BI, Adobe CC
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with GIS a plus
  • Graphic arts experience a plus

    Business Acumen:
  • Demonstrates the initiative to explore current industry trends and best practices
  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
  • Ability to present designs, drive consensus and negotiate trade-offs effectively

    Leadership:
  • Ability to takes ownership of design tasks from inception to completion
  • Continuously measures deliverables of self and team against scheduled commitments. Effectively balances different, competing objectives

    Personal Attributes:
  • Acts and decides appropriately when all available information may not be possible to obtain
  • Takes initiative to learn new tools and techniques and integrates new methods to drive improved outcomes
  • Effective team building and problem solving abilities
