Role Summary:
The Social Media Platforms Specialist is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive strategy that effectively leverages digital channels to protect, build and enhance GE Oil & Gas’ reputation and support business objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Social Media Platforms Specialist, you will:

  • Create and implement comprehensive strategy to effectively leverage digital channels to support specific business outcomes, in line with the overall strategic communications plan
  • Develop and partner with teams to effectively use social media and external digital platforms to achieve targeted positioning and thought leadership outcomes
  • Provide advice, counsel and training to senior leaders and key personnel on effective social media engagement
  • Partner closely with the Customer Communications team to enhance storytelling and business objectives around revenue marketing campaigns
  • Work with Insights team to create effective measurement and monitoring strategy.
  • Manage online presence by tracking and listening to users, monitoring discussions, and coordinating appropriate response
  • Drive business-wide integration of digital channel initiatives across business, regions and functions
  • Create content strategy and manages editorial calendar to ensure continuous and optimized presence, thought leadership and stakeholder engagement on social media platforms
  • Develop and tailor key messages for effective social and web use; Select appropriate digital channels to maximize content delivery
  • Partner with Communications team for collaborative 360-degree communications efforts and amplification among diverse audiences, especially drawing connections with Culture communications to reach internal audiences
  • Facilitate and drive user-generated content creation and identifies threats and opportunities
  • Create creative storytelling opportunities and apply new social media tools and applications to increase user base and engagement

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications or communications related field from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in communications and social media

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Fluent in additional languages such as Italian, French, and Portuguese
  • Experience in communications and social media in an international environment
  • An overall obsession with social networking and channels; should constantly update feeds, engage in communities, and stay up-to-date on trends in the field
  • Ability to absorb, digest and distil highly technical subject matter into clear, creative and concise content
  • Strong writing and creative skills, leveraging all forms of creative content creation
  • Ability to handle crises and to work several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively interact at all levels of the organization from senior level executives to other employment segments, and effectively manage in a matrixed organization
  • Understanding of measurement and evaluation in social media and communications
  • Highly-inclusive, strong collaborator and team player
  • Experience working in a global environment, managing multiple time zones; oil and gas experience a plus
  • Ability to manage and work with 3rd party agencies (PR, advertising, digital) to drive success
  • Is a reliable project manager
  • Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy
  • A confident, proactive self-starter who truly enjoys the hands-on aspects of communications

    PLEASE NOTE: Washington D. C. is the preferred location, however other U.S. locations may be considered.
