Role Summary: The position is a mechanical engineer who will have primary responsibility for conceptualizing, developing, delivering and integrating Magnet Room Hardware and Packaging. This role requires the interaction with other service and design engineering teams across different MR businesses in order to ensure the product quality goals set forth by the business.
Essential Responsibilities: Role responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 1. Supporting the development of MR Equipment and Magnet Room Hardware including: Magnet Enclosures and interaction with Patient Handling Table and User Interface, On magnet integration, High Power Electronics/Thermal Packaging and Consolidation of Electronics on the Magnet. 2. Knowledge of different forming processes like injection molding, thermoforming, Resin Transfer Molding, Resin Infusion Molding, sheet metal design. 3. Knowledge of various thermal management techniques and able to apply them to electronics modules, convective, conductive and radiative cooling/heating as related to patient thermal. 4. Knowledge of different user interfaces and workflow aspects of patient handling 5. Responsible for installed base issues related to sub-system and able to drive closure on site issues and investigations. 6. Develop innovative designs to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, total cost of ownership, serviceability, and manufacturability. 7. Leading design visualization efforts with 3D CAD models and essential component and assembly details to explore multiple design options. Capture mechanical design schematic using an MCAD system (Windchill, PRO-E, IDEAS etc.) 8. Participate in technical design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA, FEA, CFD, Reliability testing etc. 9. History of continuous development of core competencies required for the job. 10. Develop and maintaining Siting requirements, Service Procedures and Customer and Field Interaction. 11. Develop System Requirements, Sub-System Requirement Specifications and Execution 12. Providing guidance and requirements to new product development teams in order to improve quality of new releases. Experience in using a combination of statistical methods, modeling, and testing to establish predictive product sub-system reliability performance prior to and following product release. 13. Develop schedules and having a track record of meeting long term dates. Act as activity leader of department activities within a project. (Time-plan, resource need, status reports, monitor costs, resource usage, technology requirements and solutions etc.) 14. Effective execution of cross functional global team members and contractor resources.
Qualifications/Requirements: 1. BS in Mechanical Engineering. 2. 4 years relative work experience in the areas of Plastic Design, Electronic packaging, Patient Handling, sheet metal design, mechanisms, acoustic and thermal management and labeling and packaging. 3. Demonstrated technical leadership experience within an engineering organization. 4. Working knowledge of CAD and mechanical modeling tools. 5. Experience making design trade-offs between functionality, quality, and cost. 6. Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
