Role Summary: The Operations Leader for Turbine Software Operations (TSO) will play a vital role in driving world-class software deployment and support for Wind Turbine SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) and Controls software to the fleet. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence for the team, identify global process improvements and lead key initiatives to improve quality of execution.
Essential Responsibilities: The ability to (creative / drive new ideas), lead and motivate cross-functional teams, be detail-oriented and influence others with a quality mindset will be key traits required to finding success in this role.
As the Operations Leader for Turbine Software Operations, you will: • Develop & maintain process documentation, including new methods to memorialize technical solutions, to ensure consistent world-class execution of software upgrades • Implement and maintain operational tools such as schedules, forecasting and project management to drive operational excellence within the team • Drive discussions & strategy for fleet-wide upgrades, managing multiple conflicting priorities and working cross-functionally to achieve the best outcome • Develop visualization tools and methods to make faster decisions • Analyze current software deployment processes utilizing fastworks / lean / six sigma toolkits to improve productivity, reduce rework / waste and improve cycle time • Lead projects which increase process automation and reduce defects • Administer quality & execution metrics to improve customer satisfaction and reduce rework • Collaborate with commercial teams to produce customer facing documentation, improving customer experience and project approvals • Work in partnership with TSO engineers and cross-functionally with other teams across the business
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited college or university (OR Associate's Degree with 2 additional years of experience in operations, services or engineering OR High School Diploma / GED with 4 additional years of experience in in operations, services or engineering) • Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations, services, software or engineering
Desired Characteristics: • Experience in wind turbine technology operations or maintenance • Quality experience in change management, process improvements and utilizing Lean / six sigma / fastworks tool set • Demonstrated ability to analyze, visualize and collaborate with complex data sets • Able to develop digital tools to automate complex tasks • Clear Thinker with demonstrated project management, organizational and planning skills • Excellent written and verbal communication • Ability to communicate with customers and create customer facing documentation • Distinctive ability to analyze technical processes, generate new ideas and create solutions • Working knowledge of database structure, queries, SQL (Structured Query Language) and analytical software • Able to understand technical communication and successfully work with cross-functional technical teams • Experience in an operations role • Experience on GE or equivalent Leadership Program (GE employees only) • General knowledge of Wind Turbine software, hardware systems and electrical systems • General knowledge of general network communications / IT systems (LAN's (Local Area Network), WAN's (Wide Area Network), etc) • Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to clearly communicate issues and resolution to both a technical and non-technical audience • Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt Certification or equivalent quality certification • Experience to working with multicultural teams • Ability to Lead teams / people and work well with various leadership levels, especially in matrix environment • High flexibility and motivation to succeed
