Role Summary:
This role will be part of the ERP Initiatives & Strategy group's Data COE. As Data Administration Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting multiple enterprise-level applications from the database administrator (DBA) capacity. This includes, monitoring and maintaining general database health, defining schemas/models and scaling, supporting DBA related build activities, researching and implementing new DB practices and technologies as they apply to the application requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Building new sql server as per inputs given by application architect.
  • Installation, Administration and Maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server Instances.
  • Create Users and assign permissions based on the level of database access the user would need.
  • Create Linked Servers to SQL Servers and other databases such as Oracle, Access, Informix etc
  • Design database Backup and Restoration Strategy.
  • Monitor and ensure regular backups
  • Support database recovery as per the requirements
  • Setup High-Availability as part Disaster Recovery Strategy for the Databases - Fail over Clustering, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping and Replication
  • Troubleshoot various problems that arise in a day-to-day work and fix the issues by Monitoring SQL Server Error Logs and checking your email alert (if there is one configured)
  • Schedule, rebuild, re-index job,mail notification, application jobs on server.
  • Monitoring, Performance Tuning Physical Server Level & Database level and query tuning.
  • Creating and maintaining Indexes, performing database shrinking, memory settings, monitoring CPU usage and Disk I/O activity
  • Documenting major changes to the SQL Servers.
  • Apply Service Packs.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or other technical / IT field, and a minimum 5 years of relevant IT work experience.
  • 5+ years of current, professional level experience implementing and maintaining Enterprise wide applications, databases, and servers
  • Strong skills in MS SQL Server database administration.
  • Strong in DB-related programming skills (MS SQL Server/Oracle) & DBMS concepts.
  • Query optimization, Execution plan Analysis
  • Database Performance Monitoring
  • Strong customer service mindset, with the ability to build, maintains, and enhance relationships
  • Strong team player.
  • Must be able to work across multiple GE businesses and functions, setting client expectations and delivering on them
  • Strong analytical skills, oral & written communication skills.

Desired Characteristics:
  • Data Quality tool experience - Backoffice Associates’ Cransoft/DSP Tool.
  • Data migration & ERP experience.
  • Green Belt certified
