Role Summary: This role will be part of the ERP Initiatives & Strategy group's Data COE. As Data Administration Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting multiple enterprise-level applications from the database administrator (DBA) capacity. This includes, monitoring and maintaining general database health, defining schemas/models and scaling, supporting DBA related build activities, researching and implementing new DB practices and technologies as they apply to the application requirements.
Building new sql server as per inputs given by application architect.
Installation, Administration and Maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server Instances.
Create Users and assign permissions based on the level of database access the user would need.
Create Linked Servers to SQL Servers and other databases such as Oracle, Access, Informix etc
Design database Backup and Restoration Strategy.
Monitor and ensure regular backups
Support database recovery as per the requirements
Setup High-Availability as part Disaster Recovery Strategy for the Databases - Fail over Clustering, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping and Replication
Troubleshoot various problems that arise in a day-to-day work and fix the issues by Monitoring SQL Server Error Logs and checking your email alert (if there is one configured)
Schedule, rebuild, re-index job,mail notification, application jobs on server.
Monitoring, Performance Tuning Physical Server Level & Database level and query tuning.
Creating and maintaining Indexes, performing database shrinking, memory settings, monitoring CPU usage and Disk I/O activity
Documenting major changes to the SQL Servers.
Apply Service Packs.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or other technical / IT field, and a minimum 5 years of relevant IT work experience.
5+ years of current, professional level experience implementing and maintaining Enterprise wide applications, databases, and servers
Strong skills in MS SQL Server database administration.
