An exciting opportunity has arisen for Lead Embedded Systems Engineers to join our Avionics business area in Cheltenham. These positions are required to meet increased demand for embedded systems engineering activity on a cutting edge, safety critical programme. In this role you will take the lead on project teams, developing products for the next generation of aircraft.

Essential Responsibilities • Have an understanding of working within a highly regulated environment • To be able to demonstrate systems engineering thinking at unit/product level • Be comfortable reading, writing and implementing Low-Level Systems & High-Level Software requirements • To be receptive to the use of GE Tool set, whilst retaining the understanding/visibility of what these tools are providing • To understand Embedded Software architectures and implementations, and their interfaces to Systems and Hardware • To understand the needs of a Tier 1 System and how the provision of a Tier 3 product helps support the higher tiers. • To understand Hardware architectures and implementations, and their interfaces to Systems level functions and Software design • Good appreciation of both Hardware and Software disciplines to help allocate and trouble shoot problems into the logical discipline. • Be cognizant of internal (board/board or Processor/Peripheral) and external (unit to unit/network) data bus standards • Logical and innovate problem solving skills that can span systems/software/hardware
Qualifications/Requirements: • Science based Degree (or equivalent) in either Aerospace, Avionics or Systems Engineering, Engineering, Electronic, Electrical, Software Engineering, Computing for Real-Time Systems, Electronics and Software Engineering (but not IT-based degrees) or equivalent knowledge and experience • Significant experience of Embedded Systems Engineering in Avionics or a similar safety critical environment. • Will have worked in a ARP4754A, DO-254 and DO-178B/C Level A environment or equivalent. • Have worked in an Agile, Iterative-Incremental Development program.

• Will be able to read and interpret schematics • Able to use an emulator for on chip debugging • Able to use COTS TE (‘scope, bus analysers etc.) in a lab environment • Able to work in a scripted automation environment (Python, Matlab, Simulink etc) • Able to work in a reuse/adaptation environment, making efficiency decisions based previously developed functions • Methodical approach, including checking of own work • Interest in Aviation • An understanding and interest in applying solutions to aircraft systems • Able to work both in Office and Lab environments.
