Role Summary:
This position will function as the business and industry sourcing expert for the Surface Product Company.

This position is tasked with developing and implementing comprehensive commodity strategies, achieving cost out targets, managing supply risk, managing relationships with strategic suppliers, and transforming the supply base for Surface.

Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Global Commodity Leader, you will:

  • Drive spend analysis across Surface and identify strategic opportunities for additional synergy and leverage
  • Be a focal point for the business and lead the development and execution of long term, global commodity strategies to secure the lowest competitive cost position, and ensure business needs are fulfilled
  • Drive the integration of strategies into the design and/or manufacturing objectives as well as supporting Oil & Gas market strategies
  • Develop and Manage complex and global supplier / buyer contractual and strategic relationships
  • Drive capacity planning to ensure future business needs are anticipated and supported
  • Develop strategies and drive negotiations to achieve stated goals and objectives, partners cross-functionally in accordance with the strategy, drive supplier selection, development, and overall supplier management
  • Drive Sourcing initiatives including Buy GE, best cost country (BCC), direct material productivity (DMP), should costing, supply base optimization, sole source reduction, cycle reduction, on time delivery and quality improvements, Six Sigma / Lean, cash flow improvement, and margin accretion
  • Be an integral leadership member of the Sourcing organization

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 5 years of Manufacturing, and/or Sourcing Experience

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Business process / Sourcing process / Program ownership experience
  • Proven negotiations, leadership and facilitation skills
  • Strong financial planning, analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
  • Demonstrated change agent
  • Customer-focused and results-oriented
  • Ability to communicate & collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills
  • Ability to work, motivate and influence in a cross-functional, multi-site, global team environment
  • Black Belt (BB) / Master Black Belt (MBB) certified (GE Employees only)
  • Program graduate (GE Employees only)
