Role Summary: The Geometric Design Capture Leader will lead, direct and execute measurement campaigns for geometric data capture. Interface with the capture campaign leader, operations leader and system integration leaders. This will be an important role within the team, responsible for applying quality standards and supporting the development of procedures and methods within the greater oOEM team, specifically targeting how the team evaluate non-GE/Alstom equipment designs.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:
Lead engineers to execute measurement campaigns for geometric data capture
Execute 3D geometric capture including tactile measurements, surface scanning; pre-processing measurement data
Coordinate with the design characterization function, operations leader and system integration leaders (SIL)
Provide input data to GT OEM engineering functions, for the purpose of NPI, RCA and repair development
Maintain and document field experience feedback
Work with IP Engineer and GE patent Counsel to support GE OEM patent strategy, and to avoid competitor IP infringement
Develop and maintain resource capabilities, procedures and methods within the greater OEM team including the understanding of engineering tools and measurement systems
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent engineering degree
Experience in mechanical design
Working experience in Turbo-machinery (design / project execution)
Use of geometric design applications including Catia, NX Geomagic
International travel (e.g. for projects and local resource development.)
Prior working experience with non-GE/Alstom gas turbine technology
Previous job experience with reverse engineering for turbomachinery
Technical aptitude, including an understanding of engineering tools and measurement systems
Familiarity with product data management tools
Strong oral and written communication skills
Interpersonal and leadership skills
Good understanding of turbo machinery, ideally with experience with GT's
Experience in the design and development of new products and upgrades
Demonstrated interpersonal skills, coaching experience and success working across internal business functions, other GE businesses / GRC.
Fluent in written and spoken English
Self-starter with initiative and interpersonal skills to direct projects and work, of a cross-functional nature, with demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion
Ability to work well with teams and communicate requests and requirements clearly
Understands business objectives and drives specific tasks required to meet the objectives
Builds loyalty and commitment
