Role Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Engineering Leader for Power Conversion Rotating Machines (RM), the RM Engineering Leader will lead requisition and new technologies for small motors. The role is both operational and strategic, demanding transformational leadership, to turn-around our non-quality issues and overall Customer Experience.

    Essential Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Monterrey RM engineering team to execute RM projects with great customer engagement and trust. Translates concepts, considers strategic options, develops tactics, and implements change. Creates programs responsive to external environment. Participates in cross-functional business and cultural development.

  • Drives team performance to meet aggressive time and cost demands from our customers.

  • Provide guidance, leadership, mentoring and intervention, as necessary, to strengthen the discipline, quality, reliability and rigor of our engineering work

  • Lead interactions with customers on technical issues

  • Develop a roadmap for building world-class electric machines.

  • To be able to lead local and remote team members, with different culture and located in wide timezones.

  • Drive customer project execution and deliver 95%+ on time and quality

  • Able to partnering with team mates globally within the engineering organization and others, to set tactics actions to meet strategy goals, despite reporting lines.

  • Drive the planning activities and action items using the established tools, such as ISAAC, Lembrol and CAOS.

  • Interface with other functions like commercial operations, sales, marketing and manufacturing.

  • Perform managerial duties like employee reviews, coaching, mentoring.

  • Enforce rigor within the engineering team to:

  • Follow internal and external standards to ensure the product meets the customers’ requirements as well as standards on safety, reliability, and quality.

  • Create electrical designs using existing engineering tools.

  • Request and analyze test data on motors to verify requirements are met.

  • Create manufacturing documentation such as BOMs, change orders, control records, and manufacturing test specifications

  • Recommend and implement changes to existing designs and processes to improve the quality of products and effectiveness of processes.

  • Submit engineering changes to the CTH (controlled title holders) for review and approval

  • Comply with regulatory compliance requirements (EMC, Electrical safety, CE, RoHS and other in-country regulations test requirements)

  • Support the sourcing, manufacturing, and validation teams during prototype, production, validation and field issue resolution activities

  • Maintain and change engineering standards thru the formal change review process.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

    • Demonstrated deep domain knowledge in all constituent technology areas: rotating machines, electrical insulation, thermal design, rotating machine testing and deployment.

    • Regulatory certification experience

    • Prior experience having direct reports.

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.

    • Team Builder.

        Desired Characteristics:
      • Portuguese speaker

      • Experience with medium voltage equipment

      • Experience with testing and field issues of electric motors

      • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration

      • Prior experience with a focus on managing technical programs and designing and developing new products related to solving product issues; demonstrable experience of leading New Product Development (NPI) processes, Lean Principles, and management methodologies

      • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of influencing and driving a strategic change agenda across the organization. Change agent, with strong credibility at all levels of the organization, and ability to successfully manage multiple broad-scope projects simultaneously. Strong oral & written communication skills.

      • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues. Six sigma/lean practitioner expertise is preferred.
        Proven mentoring and coaching abilities, demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others.
