Role Summary: GE Kuwait Technical Center (KTC) is looking for materials engineer to perform materials analysis or characterization to understand their capability or failure mechanisms.
Essential Responsibilities: - The materials engineer at GE Kuwait Technical Center would be looking after the analysis of all the materials used in power plants and power generation equipment as well as different fuels that are used for power generation. - This engineer will also look after the state of the art materials analysis labs in GE KTC. - Work with senior engineer at KTC and product service engineers in the Middle-East & Africa (MEA) region to understand the issues at GE sites - Review the analysis with chief engineers and compile the reports that need to be included with the overall Root Cause Analysis of the site issues - Participate in customer meetings as required to explain the results - Be a continuous learner to improve the experimental skillsets as well as material behavior - Perform all the work in the lab according to GE Environment Health & Safety guidelines and ISO quality framework
Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelors in materials / chemical engineering - Good experience and expertise in materials characterization - Good expertise in power plant materials selection and their functional behavior including their failure mechanisms - Previous work experience working in lab environment - EHS and quality expertise and experience
Desired Characteristics: - Masters in Materials / chemical engineering - EHS and ISO certification - Expert knowledge of basic and advanced material characterization techniques - GE product and materials knowledge (for internal candidates)
