Role Summary:
The Sr Manager – Program Management will serve as the PowerMax Portfolio Lead responsible for leading activities within the SAP CoE Program Management Office related to Program and Portfolio Management.
The Lead works in partnership with CoE Leadership, Capability Release and Project Managers and P&L representatives to gather, analyze and present information to assist the smooth running of the overall PowerMax Program.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Areas of responsibility include Portfolio Management (including Project Intake process and Program level Change Control), Program level Issue and Risk Management, Dependency Management, Resource Analysis, Timelines and overall Program level status reporting
  • The Lead will delegate tasks to and supervise the work of one or more Portfolio/PMO analysts to accomplish these activities
  • Lead Portfolio Management – Accountable for ensuring that complete and accurate information is maintained for all projects and opportunities on the PowerMax Roadmap
  • Program Level RAID [Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions] Management – Responsible for managing the RAID process at a Program level and supporting the RAID process at a Project level
  • Dependency Management – Responsible for the tracking and management of Program level dependencies
  • Demand & Capacity – Support the CoE leadership in Resource Management for the PowerMax Program
  • Timelines and Integrated Program Plan (IPP) – Accountable for ensuring that Program level timelines and an IPP are maintained and accurate
  • Assist CoE Director to prepare for bi-weekly Program Review Board meeting (outline agenda based on major Program events - new proposals, significant milestones, etc.
  • Project Manager Coordination and Project Reporting. Facilitate bi-weekly Project Manager Synchronization call
  • Manage day-to-day execution of multiple interdependent projects by working directly with global technical teams. Manage procurement and onboarding process
  • Coordinate execution across multiple projects and drive shared approach and outcomes tracking
  • Support execution team with resolution of roadblocks and interdependencies. Partner with technical and functional teams external to the project to ensure their tasks are completed as required
  • Manage project risks, scope changes and other non-standard events throughout the life of the project
  • Manage stakeholder communication and progress reporting at various levels of the organization including leadership and executives
  • Ensure quality of deliverables is verified and matching stakeholder expectations
  • Track project outcomes realization and customer satisfaction levels through established metrics against service level. Ensure lessons learned are collected
  • Perform initial and final financial reviews, and ensure ongoing budget tracking
  • Effectively communicate (i.e. status, issues, and escalations) to leadership and other various levels of the organization


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or Engineering or some years of IT technical experience
  • Significant years of IT professional experience
  • Considerable years of professional experience in Software Development Project Management including project and financial management leading cross functional initiatives and/or large global projects

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Baden, Switzerland or Atlanta, Georgia

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proven experience using project management methodologies to deliver business value and drive significant change across an organization
  • Knowledge of System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) ideally for SAP Projects
  • Proven experience facilitating meetings with stated objectives and outcomes
  • Strong knowledge of and competency with Program/Project management tools & techniques (i.e. MS Project, Smart sheet, JIRA, HP ALM etc.)
  • Intermediate/advanced level of competency with MS Office Suite
  • Understanding of the business processes supported by the PowerMax system (Inquiry to Order, Sourcing and Logistics, Fulfilment, Project Execution and associated Finance)
  • Experience managing budgets including budget, spend, and liquidations
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of various project and portfolio management methodologies with track record of implementing shared standards for large organizations
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to influence outcomes and organize teams to attain shared goals
  • Excellent influencing, interpersonal and communications skills (both written and verbal) with all levels of an organization
  • Self-starter - requires minimal direction to accomplish goals
  • Strong track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and / or industry activities
  • Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
  • Experience working with others on a global basis
  • Applies knowledge to coach and mentor others
  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships, creates processes with customer viewpoint and partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives
  • Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills -communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions, anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve, creates actionable strategies and operational plans
  • Change oriented – actively generates process improvements, champions and drives change initiatives, confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly
  • PMP, ScrumMaster or related Project Management certifications
