Role Summary: As a member of Energy Consulting, the successful candidate will be an active contributor to GE business initiatives related to power systems equipment and services.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Application Engineer - Consulting Operations, you will:
Contribute to project teams that perform tests and technical analyses of electrical power plant dynamic performance
Compile results of technical analysis to produce detailed, concise, analytical reports
Document and present project findings and deliverables
Contribute to GE systems engineering activities including studies, internal product development and service support, analysis during project execution, sales and marketing functions
Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are prized
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on electrical power systems
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%.
Professional experience in: electric power systems engineering, or industrial power plant engineering, or transmission planning with emphasis on dynamic modeling, or feasibility, integration and design analysis of conventional and renewable assets, or rules and regulations for transmission system design and operation, e.g., FERC rules, IEC / IEEE Standards, and NERC guidelines, or other relevant discipline
MSEE, PhD or other advanced degree with focus on electric power systems
Active participation within industry professional societies, such as IEEE, CIGRE, AWEA, or other industry stature such as EIT or PE license
Proficiency with specialty analytical tools like PowerFactory, PowerWorld, PSLF, PSS/E, MAPS, MARS, PSCAD, ATP, ASPEN, EasyPower
Strong technical and analytical skills, including an understanding of electrical circuit theory and feedback control systems
Ability to perform engineering analysis and design, to develop engineering solutions in a team environment, and to provide technical consulting services to customers
Strong written and oral communication skills
Passion for learning new concepts and computer-based tools
Passion for working in an open and supportive environment where colleagues welcome opportunities to assist each other with solving challenging technical problems
Proficiency with general tools like MATLAB, MathCad, Python, MS Office
