Role Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated & passionate Oil & Gas industry technologist to join the GE Oil & Gas Digital Product Management team. As the Senior Director of Field Enablement & Strategic Positioning, you will report to the Vice President, Product Management, and you will be responsible for a squad of highly talented, highly experienced Field Enablement Leads.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will need to create and build strong working relationships with not only product division colleagues in Product Management, Engineering, Demonstration Services, and Information Development, but also Commercial, Marketing, Communications, Alliances, and Customer Success. Your charge will be to lead the global team responsible for enabling the Commercial and Customer Success organizations to learn and position the Predix-based GE Oil & Gas Digital Asset Performance Management applications and technologies for maximum customer adoption, customer value creation, and GE revenue impact.

As the Sr Director, you will:
  • Set the direction for and manage a team of experts with cross-disciplinary expertise in (1) identifying, synthesizing, and conveying the value of enterprise cloud, edge, and analytic technologies, (2) simplifying and communicating complex solution architectures and topics for consumption by diverse audiences, and (3) ensuring the Information Technology (IT) solution message is properly tailored for Oil & Gas industry processes, operational technology (OT) solutions, and techniques.
  • Ensure the Field Enablement and Strategic Positioning team is (1) always fully aware of release timings, features, measurable and differentiated value propositions for each customer segment, adoption challenges, and the customer journey and (2) proactively working with key colleagues to revise both tactical and strategic content and messages.
  • Manage the Field Enablement and Strategic Positioning team members. You will be both a technical leader within the function and a mentor and manager for your staff within the function.
  • In conjunction with other Product Management counterparts (including information development, business models and intelligence, and demonstration services), create the foundational and architectural content for educating and training the Commercial sales engineers and account teams and the Customer Success teams on how to position and assemble the solutions.
  • Provide “expert advisory” services to support the Commercial and Customer Success teams in complex pursuits and “deep-dive” sessions with Prospects and Customers’ senior technical staff
  • Own a pivotal role in both the Deal Risk and Deployment Review teams to ensure pursuits, implementations, and customer investments are aligned with strategic product direction.
  • Capture and synthesize essential data points and messages emanating from external Customers, as well as your internal customers in the Commercial team, to recommend changes as well as new opportunities to the Product, Marketing, and Communications roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Product Management, Marketing, & Communications to author and publish thought-leadership content for both internal and external audience consumption online, at conferences, and in workshops.
  • Influence from both a strategic and technical standpoint across the function and business, as influencing peers is core to this role and team.
  • Work closely with counterparts in the Business Models and Intelligence team to ensure that the organization maintains a quantified, proven value proposition, which has been benchmarked against competitors’ offerings and is readily accessible and consumable by colleagues and customers.
  • Optimize and define new processes and tools, to enable large-scale, enterprise-grade software sales and deployment.
  • Be recognized as a highly credible champion within the organization, possessing strong cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, developmental opportunities, etc. to direct/indirect reports within the broader team.


    Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
  • A minimum of 6 years of management experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years in a field-facing role architecting, positioning, selling, and/or implementing either enterprise software or large-scale industrial solutions dependent on embedded software.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Must be willing to travel (roughly 40-60% of the time)
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in either San Ramon, CA, or Houston, TX

    Desired Characteristics:
  • A minimum of 8 years of combined experience in the Oil & Gas Industry among operations, maintenance, research, and/or management roles.
  • Proven track record educating enterprise commercial sales and professional services solution architects on scientific industrial applications, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Adept at working with and managing globally distributed teams across functional disciplines.
  • Expertise in and a proven track record of leading deal-driven projects and managing business analysis efforts on time with limited budget and resources.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering on commitments to clients.
  • Demonstrated capability of 'rolling up sleeves and getting hands dirty'.
  • Experience across the entire Oil & Gas value stream.
  • Previous responsibility for mission critical systems or business processes.
  • Ability to deliver top performance in a high-growth, entrepreneurial work environment.
  • Senior-level business acumen.
  • Exceptional ability to structure presentations and content to a range of audiences for maximum impact.
  • Effective teaming, interpersonal, and leadership skills with a demonstrated advanced level of proficiency interfacing effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.

    Technical Expertise:
  • Expert working knowledge of business processes, OT, and IT needs in at least 1 sector of Oil & Gas industry and a working knowledge of business processes and OT in the entire Oil & Gas value stream.
  • Strong cross functional collaboration and influencing skills at high levels and an ability to make decisions that have deep impact.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Oil & Gas and IT regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, multi-tier architecture, and cloud technology solutions.
  • Fluent in software development processes and contemporary IT terminology.
  • Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.
  • Ability to evangelize shared best practices, communication techniques, and recommendations regarding adoption of new technologies across GE but especially to Commercial and Customer Success counterparts.
  • Prior experience commercializing, launching, and scaling a SaaS product.
  • Experience managing and successfully leading a geographically-distributed team.

    Business Acumen:
