Role Summary: The DFR Leader defines and executes reliability plans as part of the development of platform hardware and software. The position maintains a deep expertise in DFR methods and within the platform HW/SW technology. The DFR Leader will provide technical leadership, advisement, and aid to the business via developing product and system requirements, as well as evaluating emerging technologies against product requirements and providing solutions, tools and processes to enable robust designs.
Essential Responsibilities: Duties include (but are not limited to): 1. Define and execute DFR plans for hardware and software platform development programs 2. Set reliability and warranty targets with catching modality NPI teams 3. Work across functions and team boundaries to define, design, and implement technology solutions on HW and SW development programs 4. Make design recommendations to improve reliability and resolve conflicting requirements 5. Implement reliability growth and/or qualification tests to validate predictions 6. Develop DFR task lists for design teams and suppliers 7. Develop and execute platform specific HW and SW DFR qualification test plans 8. Perform basic trouble shooting encompassing multiple variables and unknowns to achieve root cause analysis and problem resolution; conduct experiments and diagnostic tests, as required to draw conclusions. 9. Leverage knowledge in advanced aspects of technical/functional areas and apply technical theory and practical experience with input from relevant functional areas to solve complex problems 10. Monitor and report reliability metrics during life of platform technologies (NPI and IB) 11. Influence strategic development of products by communicating DFR strategy in a simple, understandable manner to the business leaders and engineers 12. Maintain deep technical expertise in platform technologies 13. Drive development and deployment of digital twin models for platform technologies 14. Facilitate and drive the root cause and problem resolution processes, resulting in elimination of failure modes and improved reliability for platform (and adjacent) technology

Qualifications/Requirements: 1. Bachelor’s Degree within appropriate Engineering/Science discipline or Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years’ experience within technical discipline or equivalent (defined as High School Diploma/GED and 8 years progressive experience as an engineer or scientist within the appropriate field of study) 2. 5 years progressive experience as an engineer or scientist within the appropriate field of study 3. Experience mentoring and coaching engineers. 4. Must be able to work effectively in a global cross-functional team environment 5. Awareness of Local and International Regulatory Agencies 6. Knowledge of a New Product Introduction process 7. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems including IEC/ISO 17025 8. Possess interpersonal, organizational, communication, and influencing skills 9. Ability to manage multiple activities effectively 10. Ability to communicate effectively with engineers from different disciplines and varying levels of experience. 11. Strong working knowledge of English language (oral and written)
Desired Characteristics: 1. ASQ CRE or other independent reliability certification 2. Working knowledge of GEHC design tools and processes. 3.
