Role Summary: Design engineering for Direct Material Productivity (DMP) projects of industrial circuit breakers, and related electrical distribution equipment. The engineer will be involved in identifying DMP opportunities, proposing design changes, testing, documentation and manufacturing readiness.
Essential Responsibilities: •Identify opportunities for Direct Material Productivity, across the products of industrial circuit protection devices • Scope the projects by working closely with Systems team. Lead the projects for implementation, meeting Say-Do. • Develop and test product qualification, certification and reliability requirements • Present status and updates to stakeholders. • Develop cost effective designs to meet industrial electrical distribution market needs defined by product technical specifications and to UL, IEC and ANSI standards • Conduct engineering analysis on design concepts using engineering fundamentals and analysis tools (FEA) • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis to resolve failures • Work closely with Manufacturing plant team to implement the solutions. •Interact with cross-functional teams such as sourcing, product management and vendors to define requirements, validate designs, • Develop and update product documentation including drawings, BOM’s and design guides • Coordinate with other team members to determine time and cost effective solution to performance & quality improvements
Qualifications/Requirements: - BE / B Tech in Mechanical engineering with 3-6 yrs of experience in product design, production Engineering, Value Engineering, Direct Material Productivity. - Exposure to product design & development, quality, value engineering, costing of electrical distribution and control products like MCCB, MCB, Contactors, Equipment, and Switches - Manufacturing knowledge for stamping, molding, machining, casting, & assembly processes and tooling - Good knowledge on materials – ferrous & non-ferrous metals, plastics, elastomers - Working knowledge of CAD/CAE software like Pro/E and Ansys, Magnet - Good project management and risk management - Proven communication & inter personal skills - a clear thinker that can simplify complexity. Able to set clear goals, communicate priorities.
Desired Characteristics: - Post graduation in engineering - Design experince on Breakers product line –MCBs, MCCB & ACB - Experience in full product life cycle (scoping, feasibility, execution, production establishment) - DFSS Green belt certified - for internal candidate
