Role Summary:
GE is seeking a high motivated individual and manage our new data governance tool. The ideal candidate will work directly with GE business leaders to understand the landscape of unstructured data throughout the organization and develop a roadmap to reduce the overall data storage footprint as well as remediate high risk security concerns.

Essential Responsibilities:
As the Staff Technical Product Manager, you will:


  • Become a deep subject matter expert in our data governance tool set
  • Deliver against key initiatives such as open access remediation, sensitive data discovery, file activity monitoring, ownership identification and title reviews
  • Identify high risk permissions and open shares and coordinate remediation efforts
  • End to end ownership for remediation plans, including project initiation, scoping, resourcing, scheduling, budgeting, risk management and communication
  • Build rapport and trust with business teams to expand use cases for the data governance tool
  • Collaborate with Storage & Compute, IT Security & Risk, and other functional groups to execute file analysis projects on a global scale
  • Liaison between multiple IT teams and the vendor to coordinate enhancements and bug fixes
  • Communicate and present to executive leadership on program status, risks, and issues
  • Support execution team with resolution of roadblocks and interdependencies. Partner with technical and functional teams external to the project to ensure their tasks are completed as required
  • Manage project risks, scope changes and other non-standard events on an ongoing basis
  • Track project outcomes realization and customer satisfaction levels through established metrics

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or similar field
  • Minimum 5 years of IT professional experience

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Minimum 3 years of IT Project Management Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an IT Administrator on either Windows or UNIX/Linux platform
  • Prior knowledge and experience with data governance tools (StealthBits, Varonis, etc.)
  • Experience successfully delivering on complex IT projects
  • General knowledge of Storage Devices (NetApp, EMC, Hitachi, etc.) and File System Permissions for NFS, CFIS, NTFS, DFS)
  • General knowledge SQL (SQL Query & Analysis, SQL Management, etc.)
  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships, creates processes with customer viewpoint and partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives
  • Proven influencing and persuasion skills that align others to a common goal
  • Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
  • Ability to work independently and takes ownership of small and medium sized tasks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
