Role Summary:
Responsible for leading the architecture of the technical solution and for the overall coordination and integration of the technical solution. The Solutions Architect is the “Engineering Manager” of the project during the proposal phase up to the hand over to the order phase. The person will leverage their domain expertise and total Power Plant knowledge. He/she is the Solutions architect for uprates, upgrades of Coal power plant integrated solutions and complex projects.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Senior leadership role with ownership of the outcomes
• As a solution architect for complex projects covering coal fired plant, defines the best possible and competitive technical solution for customer needs, works with commercial and business team through, inquiry, order and implementation phase
• Decision maker on technical guarantees and technical system concepts prepared by application engineers together with Commercial Manager.
• Technical lead and co-ordination with other project team members, sub-suppliers, external partners and other GE Segments involved in the project (Commercial, Sourcing, Quality, Construction, Scheduling, Field Service etc.) under the overall lead of the Commercial Manager.
• Partners with commercial, sales and technical teams
• Leading and supporting the Application Engineering team taking into account the time-cost quality and targets, for the success of the project. Interface to engineering activity: instruction and guidance of the Application Engineers covering turbine Balance of plant, Turbine cycle, Boiler, air quality controls systems and balance of plant.
• Responsible for bid Proposal Technical document, Technical risk assessment, plant guarantees and risk mitigation from system point of view for complex proposals. Definition of technical risks and evaluation of mitigation plans in co-operation with the Commercial Manager and Project Management Organisation (PMO). Technical check list and performance guarantee risk report in co-operation with the Performance Engineer (PFE). Will be organized by PMO and supported by SAR
• Project scope completeness, consistency and technical integrity check.
• Assisting Commercial Manager in translating target price into target costs for each partner and co-operation in ensuring achievements of results.
• For proposals- Analyze the technical specification – if any or set-up of a technical solution idea together with the Commercial Manager. Developing the project guidelines, Organising and leading the site investigation.
• Leads the technical team in the preparation of the technical part of the offer in co-ordination with the Commercial Manager.
• Ensuring that the proposal is in conformity with the specification and/ or deviation strategy respectively selected technical solution idea as defined for the project in support of the Commercial Manager. Ensuring that technical deviations provided by each partner are not in contradiction with each other and the overall project deviation strategy.
• Ensuring complete and accurate technical offers and technical project documentation, finalisation of technical offer document.
• Understands the tradeoffs between equipment at system level proposing the solution that is best suitable for customer
• Preparation of the technical project transfer documentation for handing over to CM&U. Transfer of the technical part of the contract/ offer to the Project Management Office and Engineering.
• Is recognized as a technical expert in their area of expertise so as to provide consultation to management, all the design organizations, and supplier organizations. Drive thought leadership in their field in the market.
• Continuously remains cognizant of state-of-the-art in the area of design, manufacture and services of coal based power technology
• Contributes to the technology advancements in the steam power systems domain, translates the customer and industry needs into technology development
• Familiarity with steam power plant control systems and optimization of plant level performance, operability, reliability and maintainability parameters will be an added advantage
• Has deep domain expertise in “one of the coal fired power plant equipment/systems” i.e ST/Turbine cycle, Boiler, Air Quality Control Systems, Balance of Plant, Plant Controls or Digital and leverages the same to provide system level solutions and trade-offs
• Up to 35% travel

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• At least 15 + years additional years of experience in an engineering capacity in either turbine cycle, boilers, air quality controls systems, process engineering for power plants
• Coal fired power plant systems level experience
• Coal fired power plant Operations or maintenance experience (5 + years) desired.
• Exposure to multiple power plants, hands on troubleshooting, solutioning to enhance plant efficiency
• Commissioning experience of turbine cycle or boiler is an added advantage

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred (for GE internal)
