Role Summary: The Power Digital organization is looking for global requisition engineers for Monitoring & Diagnostic (M&D) product installations, specifically supporting Power Digital software solutions. The Requisition Engineer is responsible for all technical decisions and execution of equipment installations at customer sites, with expertise in integrating third party DCS (distributed controls system) with the M&D server for Balance Of Plant (BOP) monitoring.
Essential Responsibilities: • Lead all technical aspects of multi-functional teams in installation and deployment of all M&D products and services, with specialty expertise in DCS integrations • Act as single point of contact for technical decisions with project teams and end customers to ensure customer satisfaction and business success with technical M&D delivery that meets specification, is on-time, within budget, and to contractual requirements • Complete Site Survey and develop design to document requirements; define responsibilities for customer, GE site resources, and GE OTR teams; define bill of materials required to meet M&D quality standards requirements within site constraints; analyzing current architecture and suggesting method of BOP integration • For complex or first-of-a-kind installations, physically install M&D equipment, DCS software, and oversee high-speed connection network engineers to ensure connectivity between customer control systems and GE M&D Operations Center. Document changes to customer network topology diagram and understand controls one-line drawing • Effectively mitigate technical risks, coordinate the resolution of all technical issues. Document status and results in systems of records, and keep teams promptly notified of technical status, changes, risks, and issues • Create opportunities for and implement simplification in M&D/DCS installation, delivering productivity
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls/Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science/IT or related Engineering discipline • Minimum of 3 years integrating SCADA/DCS protocols like Modbus, Profibus. Foundation Fieldbus, OPC, TCP/IP and Serial based modes of communication • Minimum of 5 years of experience with technical product delivery in a requisition, contractual, or other Order-To-Remittance (OTR) business function with exceptionally strong end-customer interaction skills • DCS knowledge is mandatory • DCS installation and deployment experiences are preferred • Fluent English skills (oral & written) on problem solving, trouble shooting
Desired Characteristics: • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% as required • Experience in Field Engineering/ Customer installations or deployments, specifying and physically installing network equipment (servers, routers, firewalls, switches); knowledge of industrial control systems • Experience in Factory Acceptance Tests for SCADA/DCS related projects, and with travel to sites for conducting Site Acceptance Tests with customer • Highly comfortable providing training to the customer control room operators and I&C technicians, exceptionally strong end-customer interaction skills • Experience working in an independent and highly matrixed environment, coordinating across multiple sites, functions, and time zones, with simultaneous projects • Experienced with MS Visio, Excel, Outlook, and Word • Green Belt or Black Belt Certification, or Lean/Company equivalent• Desires taking on responsibility for business success and interfacing regularly with business leadership • GE Control system training, and proficiency with Web-based applications such as PLM, SupportCentral workflows/ Folders (GE only) • Strong bias for action; mechanically-minded; high energy • Excellent interpersonal skills; verbal, written communication skills, and presentation skills knowing when to use more technical detail and when to summarize; ability to work with fellow engineers as well as corporate or senior leadership at customer • Demonstrated organizational skills and enjoys structured, transactional, and process-oriented work • Strong team player and change agent at a business level • Solid analytical competencies, ability to troubleshoot quickly and on-the-fly, especially at customer locations • Demonstrated experience in facilitating teams and/or projects in a technical, engineering & global environment
