Role Summary: The Advanced Lead Engineer will work on products catering to the Train Performance portfolio of GE Transportation's Digital Solutions business, which includes energy management products, wireless communication based products. This role will work on projects of high/moderate complexity and effect both short-term and long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities: The Advanced Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible for architecting new features, products, solutions for Energy Management products like Trip Optimizer, Smart HPT. The engineer will also design and develop sub-systems and systems in order to ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded. This role will need to provide the coaching and mentoring to the sub-system engineers. You will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize your experience or expertise to solve customer problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals.
In addition, you will - Develop a System/Subsystem through design specifications, failure modes and effect analysis, DFSS Scorecard - Assist the project team in defining the project scope of work - Identify & improve the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Interact with marketing / sales, quality organization and customers per project - Close interaction with customers to drive requirements and customer satisfaction - Resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning - Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers - Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives - Share information and promote open dialogue - Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelors of Engineering in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation from reputed Institute/college/University - 8 to 12 years of experience in an engineering position of Systems engineering, Control system design, Reliability engineering - Aerospace / automotive / locomotive hands-on domain knowledge - Experience in MATLAB / Simulink for simulation and mathematical modeling
