Role Summary: The Lead System Engineer will be responsible for designing sub system or a large system & designing feature, set of features, or whole product. She/he will work independently & contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across Train Handling (LOCOTROL®) product lines including interacting with customers & product management to understand system level functional requirements, developing concepts to meet these requirements, and defining these concepts that fits in over all big system.
Essential Responsibilities: · Execute to, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support sub modules, systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements. · Define interfaces and develop Interface Control Documents · Seek and provide feedback on design and development · Drive design reviews, define interfaces between sub systems · Develop system level concepts to meet the customer requirements and CTQs · Develop sub system level test strategies · Prepare and present technical data to internal/External customers · Collaborate with Design to know customers and understand behaviors · Conduct customer and stakeholder interviews and elaborates on personas · Document and communicate results of technical data generated · Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives · Share engineering information and promote open dialogue · Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business · Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements: · Bachelor in Engineering in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation from a reputed institute/university, academic performance of at least 60% (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in an engineering, IT, scientific or other technical position) · Minimum of 8 to 10 years of Software or Systems Engineering experience on software focused product development projects · Automotive / Locomotive / Aerospace domain knowledge.
Desired Characteristics: · Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments · Experience with Serial and Ethernet drivers, GPS interfaces, and FLASH memory implementations · Experience with GUI development · Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems · Strong oral and written communication skills · Strong interpersonal and leadership skills · Proficiency of Cloud and Big data analysis
