Role Summary: PL Engineering Centre of Excellence is looking for an Mechanical design engineer who seeks a technically challenging and exciting position and owns solid experience in mechanical design of gas turbine and compressor components, especially compressor blading. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a friendly work environment within a dedicated team and collaborate with design, purchasing and shop/assembly teams on design projects.
Creation of manufacturing drawings, 3D CAD models, product structure and other relevant technical documentation (e.g. IFSI, IT plans, WI, TN,...)
Executes the design, evaluation or analysis of assigned GT components by using engineering principles and adhering to business standards, procedures, and specific product requirements
Support, root cause analyses (RCAs) and feedback loop on field experience into new products/product improvements/upgrades
Work closely with mechanical integrity and other design teams for successful project execution
Discussing and solving complex issues with manufacturing departments, suppliers or sub-contractors
Engineering disposition for Non-Conformance and Manufacturing change request
Support installed fleet by considering the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints
Research new materials and methods of development
Document and report results to component owners and leadership
Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
Good knowledge of 3D CAD system tools (e.g. CATIA, NX) and methods (e.g. Advanced Surf Design) to create models and drawings of products.
Experience in mechanical design & development of new products and upgrades
Good understanding of turbomachinery, ideally with experience with GT’s
Good understanding of design processes (e.g. reverse engineering) and principles (e.g. tolerance stack-up, design integration into engine)
