Role Summary: The Welder I will perform functions to weld product line assemblies and components in accordance with established weld procedure specifications.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Welder I, you will:
Read and interpret fabrication prints and understand weld symbols
Set up, operate, and maintain welding machinery
Join and/or overlay material using both manual and/or automated welding processes such as GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, & SAW.
Select proper electrodes and holders; regulate current and time
Maintain adjustments as required
Understand and adhere to quality requirements
Perform gouging, oxy fuel flame cutting, plasma cutting, grinding, material handling and cleanup
Coordinate with Purchasing to maintain inventory of consumables
Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations
Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by responsibilities
High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
Minimum 3 years of welding experience or welding training in GTAW & GMAW
Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling of parts hanging from a crane that weigh 35 lbs. up to 10,000 lbs., pulling on wrenches to secure parts in machine, as required
Ability and willingness to be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time
Ability and willingness to pass a pulmonary function test
Ability and willingness to handle heavy parts and moving parts
Ability and willingness to be subjected to the following: extreme heat that could exceed 500 degrees, enclosed areas, heights, and awkward positions, exposure to eye injuries, noise, dust, burns, & arc flashes, exposure to high noise levels for long periods of time, as required
Ability and willingness to stand for long periods of time, as required
Ability and willingness to work inside and outside, as required
Ability and willingness to interpret drawings, specifications, weld procedures and shop orders
Ability and willingness to perform set-up, fit-up, layout and weld for complex welded assemblies
Experience with GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and SAW, with materials such as 9-chrome, 2.25-Cr 1-Mo, Inconel, and various stainless-steel alloys on X-ray/RT-inspected weld joints
Certified to various ASME Welding sections including Sect. 1, Sect. 3, Sect. 8, and Sect. 9
Graduate of Professional Welder program with emphasis on pipe fitting and pressure vessel welding
