Role Summary:
Data Engineer will be responsible for analyzing requirements, document, develop, test, deploy solutions interacting with business in Buy to Pay Data Warehouse(BTP DW) and broader Sourcing and Supply chain Analytics areas. BTP DW is one of the largest enterprise data warehouses in GE integrated with 25+ ERPs supporting Sourcing, Finance AP, Corporate and Global Ops and Enterprise Standards. Key areas of focus of the role will include developing new procurement, payables, supply chain analytics.

Essential Responsibilities:
Data Engineer will be Responsible for the development and testing of data engineering solutions. Proficient in SQL and ETL processes, ETL and DB performance tuning, table partitioning, shell scripting. Provide Operational support for the data warehousing applications, including maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring and resolving bugs and production issues in a timely manner. Demonstrate working proficiency with data modeling concepts and to model and implement data access layers for reporting, data discovery, metadata management, and data services. Develops and tests data engineering solutions. Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of data warehousing principles and processes including data modeling, logical and physical database design, transformation and loading. Contributes to the designs, profiles, develops, and tests data engineering solutions using ETL tools that move data from disparate source/target systems and the enterprise information repositories.

In this role you will:
• Performs a variety of data loads & data transformations.
• Working knowledge of methods for parsing, formatting, & transforming data into units consistent with analytical needs.
• Demonstrates proficiency in implementation of logical/physical data models
• Performs integration of multiple data source-formats into master data load
• Proficient in the use of at least one ETL tool and visualization tool
• Must have good communication skills - both oral and written

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent (STEM) with strong experience as data engineer.
• Minimum 3-4 years of IT experience
• Business Intelligence expertise in – Oracle DW /Greenplum/SAP BW, Informatica/Talend.
• Experience with Big data technologies, hadoop, data lake, visualization tools
• Experience in Enterprise data management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong and demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction

Desired Characteristics:
• Proven ability to convert data into meeting business information needs
• Expertise in visualization tools Tableau or other business intelligence tools will be a plus
• Oracle EBS and/or SAP ERP experience
• Experience working with corporate systems and cross-business teams
• Understands the technology landscape, up to date on current technology trends and new technology, brings new ideas to the team.
• Design and implementation of Informatica/Talend jobs required for data transformation to implement specific business logic for reporting
• Troubleshooting and support as needed
• Experience working with global cross-functional, cross-business teams
• Green Belt/Black Belt certified (GE Employee Only)
• Exposure to Scripting (Pig, Python, Perl, etc.) experience
• Understands logical and physical data models, big data storage architecture, data modeling methodologies, metadata management, master data management, data lineage & data profiling
• Deep passion for learning.
