Role Summary:
As a Product Owner you will be responsible for creating strong working relationships & influence across product management, engineering and other functional groups to deliver releases as per roadmap, and contribute to executing the strategy.

Essential Responsibilities:
As a domain expert for your portfolio, you will engage customers at mid-level management and technical levels to present roadmap, features overview, demos, collect requirements and help refine roadmap.

As the Product Owner, you will elevate how we engage with internal and external software businesses. You will be accountable for driving successful delivery of products from GE Automation & Controls, making recommendations on extending software solutions, and representing General Electric to the outside market, including customers, partners and analysts. Additionally you will:

  • Be responsible for requirements backlog and roadmap for one or more “Edge” SW products
  • Define / manage requirements, follow product management processes and be a product expert
  • Work cross functionally across engineering, marketing, sales, internal and external customers to deliver the roadmap
  • Leverage overall portfolio and product strategy to create a detailed product plan tailored for balancing internal productivity and customer facing applications
  • Work with all areas of the product management and software development lifecycle to deliver differentiated products
  • Establish and manage relationship across GE businesses & sub-businesses, partners and customers at technical experts levels across industries and geographies
  • Establish strong working relationship with technical sales and user / developer community
  • Deliver business & technical sales collaterals (such as value proposition, how to sell, RoI analysis, competitive analysis, data sheet, product overview, FAQ, recorded demos, webinars)
  • Work across GRC, DE Digital, GE P&Ls and external customers to develop detailed analysis of industry and market trends, customer needs, competitors, economic environment, and business opportunities to achieve a competitive advantage within the industry
  • Responsible for defining and managing requirements backlog and roadmap for one or more products, and is the product(s) expert



Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A Minimum of 3 years of technical experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of product management experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of software industry experience minimum with proven track record
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% within the US and Globally
  • Ability and willingness to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA

Technical Expertise:
  • Entrepreneurial and proactive spirit
  • Aligns goals, feature sets, capabilities to business objectives for the product (i.e. Profitability, ROI, Market Penetration, OEM [inbound/outbound], Brand Development, etc.) Identifies Buy vs Build vs Partner opportunities and presents what-if scenarios to PM
  • Agile and other Software Development methodology experience is required
  • Experience with the creation of developer platforms is a big plus
Business Acumen:
  • Leverages knowledge about industry trends, competitors, and changing regulations across the broad environment to advance the product portfolio
Leadership:
  • Collaborates effectively with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., UX, GE Business teams) and identifies the interconnections between them
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to build effective processes
  • Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
  • Informs engineering and other stakeholders of key customer issues, identifies potential problems or conflicts and resolves them when necessary
