Role Summary: This position offers those with a strong technical background an opportunity to further enhance that skill set while learning the commercial side of the business. Our Commercial Operations team works with the regional sales team to develop a complete technical and commercial solution for our customers.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Commercial Application Engineer- Services you will:
Develop engineering and installation work-scope documents, schedules and cost estimates for the installation of the products in the Controls Solutions Product Company, including Mark “X” Steam and Gas Turbine Control, Exciter and Load Commutated Inverted Generator Control, Human Machine Interface (Computer) and Cyber Security products
Review and influence customer specifications to assure compliance and / or noted exceptions for development of equipment and service quotations
Work with third party contractors to develop costs and schedules for purchased labor and material as required for project installation quotes
Contribute to and leverage existing technical library of source materials related to industry applications, system configurations / hardware, design standards, etc. to provide timely technical information
Support and provide specific project proposal support to regional team as necessary, including strategy, RFQ review / analysis, technical scoping, costing and proposal development as necessary to grow segment business
Work closely with sales team to develop opportunities, formulate and present GE solution to customers and close deals
Make technical presentations to all levels of customer’s organization
Assist with the evaluation of commercial and technical risk within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) Process
Contribute to individual deal strategies to drive both price and hit rate
Provide technical support to execution teams to ensure successful projects
Contribute positively to regional sales, orders, profitability, and ITO goals and Metrix
Manage proposal queue, including meeting bid due dates agreed to during R1
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum 5 years of field service experience in power generation field
Ability and willingness to travel about 40% of the time, as required
Effective written and oral communication skills
Effective use of Personal Computer Technologies
Extensive application and installation design knowledge in one or more of the following GE and non-GE technologies; Steam, Gas or Hydro Turbine Generator Control Systems (GE Mark III, IV, V, VI, VIe), Balance of Plant Control (DCS), Excitation and Generator Control & protection systems (GE EX2000, 2100, LS2100, LCI); HMI/Computer installation and Cyber Security
Additional desired qualifications include the ability to generate cost estimates and scope documents for HMI and Cyber security products
