Role Summary:
This role resides within the Enterprise Data Services organization which was formed to support GE’s Digital Thread, Digital Twin, Services 2.0 and Industrial Internet initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities:
In this role, you will support the data requirements of the Power Services Enterprise including functional and regional business users as well as Data Scientists who are using analytics to achieve business outcomes including building new customer analytics products to increase revenue, driving internal productivity to reduce cost and managing risk of our contractual services portfolio.

- Define the Data Governance Policy and Standards for the Enterprise Data Landscape
- Define / Refine data governance routines and tasks
- Apply and enforce data standards and guidelines to drive consistency in data definitions, sources, consumable models, data usage and quality.
- Identify, track and collate all critical data in Power Services (PS) into the PS data Lake.
- Ensure the integrity of master data across multiple domains, management of hierarchy relationships, processing modification requests, bulk onboarding requests, user support, etc.
- Manage the day to day operations and progress of data governance projects, which include extracting data, profiling data, and providing meaningful analysis and recommendations based on the data to drive continuous improvement in enterprise data quality
- Participate and/or lead long-term data quality initiatives.
- Actively Participate in strategic and tactical initiatives in order to Ensure that a data stewardship mindset is incorporated into all projects
- Implement off-the-shelf / open source tools for data governance like Metadata Management. Alternatively build data governance solutions on the Predix platform or use Tableau for reporting/visualizations.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university
- Experience in data dictionary and metadata management using automated tools
- Experience with MDM systems (ex. Informatica, Talend) in data governance roles
- Proven experience in data integration/data federation projects
- Experience in a Data Management role including running queries and compiling data for analytics
- Experience in data design, data architecture and data modeling (both transactional and analytic)
- Minimum of 5 years’ of experience in a Data Management role including running queries and compiling data for analytics
- Minimum of 3 years’ of experience in data design, data architecture and data modeling (both transactional and analytic)
- Minimum of 2 years’ of experience in Big Data / NoSQL technologies including Greenplum & Hadoop (HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Shark, Spark, etc.)

Desired Characteristics:
- Knowledge of data transfer and ingestion technologies including Talend and HVR
- Write complex SQL queries needed to query & analyze data
- Communicates complex solution concepts in simple terms
- Quickly learn and adapt the capabilities of new technologies and share with the team.
- Strong Oral and written communication skills
- Hand on experience with one of the major RDBMS and contemporary database technologies including Big Data / Hadoop (HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Shark, Spark, etc.) , RDBMS and NoSQL.
- Implements Tableau visualizations to visually show insights.
