Role Summary:
Engineer will be a member of CBS Global System Team, working under direction of Global System Team leader to support all CBS programs make best use of computing infrastructure.
Works independently and is seen as a Technical Leader. The role demonstrates deep understanding of concurrent software development, and how well-managed infrastructure empowers teams within SDLC and Agile using SAFe principles.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Support IBM HMC infrastructure across US and India for CBS Engineering Teams (3 to 5 HMCs).
o Ensure hardware is properly maintained, software is updated/patched and supported, appropriate disaster-recovery measures are in place, working through proxies at remote hosting locations
o Support program needs for sufficient storage and LPars
o Add/remove/support SAN-based storage as required
o Add/remove/support twenty plus instances of AIX used by engineering teams; serve as mentor/consultant to program team resources for AIX
o Maintain templates to expedite deploying new LPars on demand
o Patch OS as appropriate, working towards as automated a process as is reasonable across multiple HMCs and OS instances

• Lead efforts to provision complex test environments needed for certification and integrated testing efforts requiring knowledge of firewalls and networking.
• Provide ongoing system support for Dev/Test with focus on Unix/AIX/RHEL/CentOS
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders across the program teams, understand what the programs need, negotiate with Corporate IT/Product Hosting Services regarding the best means to meet those needs, and deliver
• Everything is “first time ever”; thinking creatively is a requirement

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in HMC and AIX system deployment and support OR Master’s degree with 4 years of experience in HMC and AIX system deployment and support.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
• Must be willing to work out of an office located in Bangalore, India

• Using and supporting HMC-based AIX systems
• Unix including AIX, RHEL, and CentOS
• Windows-based systems and tools including VMware
• Provisioning and supporting cloud-hosted Dev/Test systems, e.g. AWS, Azure
• Demonstrate expert knowledge in developing and executing automated scripts
• Learn new techniques and methodologies and trains the team in the same
• Use industry best practices to improve infrastructure and integration processes.
• Communicate effectively, with confidence and clarity
• Work under minimal supervision
• Work with developers and stakeholders to deliver quality software through the Global System Team
• Manage key deliverables and mentor junior team members
• Contribute to driving initiatives such as defining standards and processes to ensure quality while reducing costs
• Determine best practices and principle, promote them across the team
• Demonstrate clarity of thinking, work through limited information and vague problem definitions
• Influence through others; build direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas
• Proactively identify and remove project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
• Share knowledge, power, and credit, to establish trust, credibility, and goodwill
